Here’s a useful tip to help students improve their writing. ✍️ 🤩
Ask them to read their work aloud. While it may not feel as natural as reading silently, it can help them catch often-overlooked errors, a 2022 study shows.
Yes! If we want to reimagine school we have to start with the spaces where students learn. Although I think there are still many opportunities for innovative spaces without a new build.
Teachers are the backbone of education. Listen to them! What they have to say may surprise you. New survey out from @HarrisPoll + @charteralliance#ListenToYourTeacher https://t.co/t0L3Fnl0qI
One of my greatest working mom/life hacks is this cookbook from @TestKitchen. I've worked my way through 15 weeks. Love it because I can prep some on weekends, meals are healthy and variable, ingredients last across the recipes so you use all of the ingredients.
Yes! As a K-12 administrator but a mom of 2 kids under 4... I'm beginning to realize that kindergarten is actually way too far into a child's development to "begin" education. It starts way earlier and I commend everyone in the early childhood space!
Can we talk about the oft stated goal that children “come to kindergarten ready to learn?”
As if THAT is when learning actually begins.
(Spoiler alert: It isn’t.)
What you’re watching is more than “just play.” It’s a developing brain firing on all cylinders. 🧠
Still months away from her second birthday, this little one is demonstrating an impressive array of skills.
Watch as she:
Matches by color.
Identifies and sorts by shape.
Sequences the placement of individual blocks.
Differentiates between sizes.
Problem solves.
And hones her fine motor skills… all in 56 seconds.
Imagine if we made a list of all she learns in an hour. In a day. In a week.
The period from prenatal to three is the single most consequential period in all of human development. But we’re yet to treat it as such.
How would our public policy look if we moved past the idea that learning begins at age five?

@RickJetter If you want to work in schools and systems, EdD! If you want to teach university, publish, research, PhD. I think some practical things come into play too like how your life fits with the program, etc. I did the EdD at Vanderbilt in Leadership and Policy and highly recommend it!
