People in Needham/Waban/Newton Highland/Waltham, Mass talking on Ring Neighbors about a mysterious explosion that shook homes around 2:10p. @NBC10Boston
Crazy oversimplification of that situation.
Program with big expectations.
Franklin was there for 12 years.
Notorious for losing the major games.
Horrid record against Top 10 teams.
Horrid record against ranked teams.
8 straight losses to Ohio State.
2-6 against ranked Michigan teams.
1 Big Ten title in 12 years.
Finally made the CFP, beat SMU and Boise State. Fans notice those were two of the weaker teams in the field.
Blew a double-digit lead in the semifinals and lost to Notre Dame.
Return numerous star players.
One of preseason national title favorites.
Preseason #2 ranking, nearly #1.
First round projections everywhere.
“If not now, when?” type of season.
Beat up on bad non-con schedule.
Lose biggest home game again.
“Season’s not over, just regroup.”
Lose to winless UCLA team, a game they were favored to win by 20+ points.
“Still alive for CFP, have to win out.”
Lose to 3-2 Northwestern at home (during homecoming) for the first time in over a decade, another game they were favored to win by 20+ points.
Then they parted ways.
You can argue the side of giving Franklin more time, but him getting fired has nothing to do with the health of the sport…
Friendly Reminder:
18.75% of current NFL TE1s played at Penn State.
Theo Johnson - NYG
Brenton Strange - JAX
Mike Gesicki - CIN
Tyler Warren - IND
Pat Friermuth - PIT
Juwan Johnson - NO
@SeanCurrie and @CooperTerwilli1 you made a great choice. TEU. Keep it going fellas.
Somebody really has to enlighten me. In the history of Buffalo Bills football, exactly around what time did these fans earn the right to talk so much being a team of historic losers??
It’s time to have a serious conversation about James Franklin.
The good. He helped modernized the Penn state football program and the athletics department.
No he didn’t save Penn state football. The kids that stayed and Bill O’Brien did that.
He won a lot of games at Penn state.
He recruited well. Not great however.
He developed a lot of kids into nfl players.
The bad.
He’s an egomaniac and a narcissist and as such is an extreme micromanager. The failure to win big games stems from these traits. The more big games he lost the harder he tried. The more he tried to control. The worst it got.
James can’t stop talking about Penn state. Getting fired was never in the realm of possibilities for JF. Remember he’s a narcissist they never see it coming. Penn state was his dream job. As a boy he wanted to play at Penn state.
You would think when he took the job at PSU he would’ve embraced the hard nose smash mouth style of football Penn state was known for. Nope he refused to allow a QB to run a QB sneak under center for close to ten years. He was hell bent on doing it James way.
He pissed off donors with his style and treatment of them and the history of the school.
Despite it being his dream job he flirted almost yearly with other jobs.
He argued and chastised fans. Turning a loyal fanbase against him. To this day he has never publicly thanked PSU and the fans. Franklin is a small petty man.
Player misuse. Franklin often stuck with upperclassmen to the detriment of the team. Giving huge NIL payments to “loyal upperclassmen”
He failed at developing talent at WR and massively failed Drew Allar.
Allar never fit the scheme Franklin ran. I honestly don’t understand why he was recruited?
Recruiting. Frankin is a good recruiter. There is a myth that he’s one of the best. Where did this come from. While at PSU Franklin loaded his classes up early. Often achieving a top 5 ranking almost a year before signing day. These classes would almost always land in the teens. He had Penn state in the conversation for tons of elite 5 star players. Being in the conversation is nice but James got told no more than a high school band geek trying to get a date to the prom.
In closing Penn state fans continue to talk about Franklin because he keeps talking about Penn state and Va tech turkeys are trying to rewrite Franklin’s history at Penn state. That history is this.
James Franklin ultimately was a failure at Penn state. 1-18 against top ten big ten teams is a colossal failure and that will be jame’s Franklin’s legacy!!
Might as well make the osu commitment post now
“The best in PA stay in PA” is some 🧢
James Franklin could never get elite talent and until Matt Campbell does, I’ll keep bashing the saying
“If you ask him to do what I was doing with the New England Patriots, I don’t think he could replicate it”
Those are Rob Gronkowski’s OWN words about Travis Kelce👀
Ironically, ya picked the photo from when Gronk beat the Travis in the bowl 😂✌️
“What Kansas City asks him to do, I could not replicate… he’s a great player, it’s just an honor to be in the same category.”
Those are Rob Gronkowski’s OWN words about Travis Kelce 👀🐐
Even Gronk knows Kelce is the GOAT TE. Stop the comparisons 😭
🎙️ | DudesOnDudes Pod
@psulionscentral I’ll give you a 99% crystal ball prediction that he doesn’t commit to Penn State😂
After we lost Spell like that, I’m sure some other school will swoop in and offer the kid more.
I hope I get reposted by the This You? guy
