@mattyglesias@TylerDinucci I think the worst thing about him is cutting off very cheap aid to people dying on other continents when they could be saved for next to nothing. But this is also very bad
@masnOrioles@masnRoch Albernaz is not the problem, but the team has been run into the ground. The Elias Method produces horrible fundamentals and endless injuries. No one will want to sign in Baltimore when they know the club will ruin their game and get them injured.
@jcalvinmeyer I understand Rubenstein giving Elias a chance, but the results are in. This operation produces terrible fundamentals and a disturbing amount of injuries. Time for Rubenstein to act: Replace the analytics “genius” and get your team back.
@JasonLaCanfora The Orioles got swept by the Rays, but only one of the games was a blowout and they hit multiple home runs. HUGE win for Mike Elias’s computers.
@OriolesHangout I can only assume that Elias scouted him when he worked for Houston and Baz was a Texas high school pitcher. That's what it always is with Elias: It's about him, personally. And usually it's related to his past in Houston or even St. Louis.
@JasonLaCanfora I can’t blame Albernaz. These guys were equally bad last year. Did I want Bruce Bochy? Yes. But none of it matters until Elias is gone and someone else rebuilds their minor league instructional program.
@Steveonbaseball Elias has never won a playoff game and he never will. Why delay the inevitable? Fire him before he screws up the draft and the trade deadline.
@JasonLaCanfora Elias said of this year’s draft: We don’t intend to be picking this high again. Correction, Mike: YOU won’t be picking this high again because you’ll be gone by next season.
@Buster_ESPN@imfr0mmaryland The Orioles suck, but the problem isn’t David Rubenstein. It’s the arrogant, incompetent GM he inherited. If he fires Elias, Rubenstein will remain in good standing with the fans.
@GlennClarkRadio@MBordick He’s completely right. The second half of this is why Mike Elias will never win a playoff game. David Rubenstein, you can either fire him now or fire him later. Your choice.
@JasonLaCanfora I 100% agree with you that Elias should be fired. Where I differ slightly is that I do think he can evaluate talent. Where he's truly failed is in minor league instruction. Players in this system arrive in MLB woefully unprepared—esp. to play defense or hit offspeed pitches.
@JasonLaCanfora This is mostly an indictment of the Orioles’ minor league development program. I do think Elias is pretty good at scouting players. But they don’t teach them properly, from fielding fundamentals to how to hit any kind of pitch besides a fastball.
@JasonLaCanfora Agree with most of your Elias takes. I do see signs of improvement with Honeycutt so I am not quite ready to cut bait on him yet. But I do seriously question the organization’s ability to teach hitting. Especially offspeed pitches.
