Okay, you say that China saw decades of double-digit growth not thanks to the CCP, but because of the hard work and entrepreneurialism of the Chinese people.

But India also has lots of hard working entrepreneurial people. Why does India only 1/4 of China's GDP per capita (despite being roughly equally as wealthy as recently as the 80s)?

Even if the explanation is simply that the CCP simply got out of the way of the market often enough to let growth happen, that is still so rarely done, especially in developing countries, that it should count to their credit.

One of the most interesting charts I've ever seen is this: Different countries' rate of economic growth post-1960 are NOT predicted by their GDP per capita in 1960. Which means that in the median case, there *hasn't* been catch-up growth or convergence.

Countries like China, which experienced decades of double-digit growth (and have huge regions like Shanghai and Guangdong which are about as wealthy as a Western country), are the exception to the pattern we've seen in most developing countries, not the norm.
