Home-made spectrometer using a cardboard tube, a piece of diffraction film, razor blades for a narrow slit, and hot glue to connect the parts together.
Then I took a long exposure photo of the cooking gas flame. The obtained spectrum matches the wikipedia version!

Notice how the flow of liquid is revealed. The flow is driven by moving ions in the solution. The copper branches grow were the flow is.

@sbagley At Clarkson U, for the parent who did not give birth it is one semester off with full pay (to be taken within the two semesters during/after child’s birth) and a year off of the tenure clock (optional). I am mostly certain that this is the same for the parent who gives birth too.
