@bluskyflyguy @DanClarkSports I was referring to the league average. Not highest to smallest. Using your example the average payroll in 1998 was 48 million. Percentage wise that’s way closer to the O’s 71M payroll, than today’s average pay of 180M is to the dodgers 410M payroll.

@MarinerMenace Can’t wait for them to implement a cap. I’m as pro union and anti billionaire as the next guy but the sport and majority of fans will greatly benefit from a middle market team having the same spending power as New York or LA.

@soxmachine_josh If trout had 2 years remaining I’d be all for it, but with 5 years left and so much young talent on the rise it’s too much of commitment for an aging star. We’ve seen too many late stage hall of famers put on a Sox uniform the last 20 years to know how that song goes.
