If refunds would proceed it does raise a dilemma with the refund threshold though. A hard cut-off is simple but does wreck user hopes that are just a smidge above it.

Is there a "better "ethical play here when it comes to refunds?

@ethanfr even chain-abstraction aside, metamask genuinely feels like using legacy abandonware tech.

at some point nothing I would do could fix RPC errors (which a regular user wouldn't try to fix to begin with) so I just downloaded another wallet and never looked back.
