@vsbuffalo Had to take a sick kiddo to DR in the evening. $175 just to get ears/eyes checked and subsequent prescription for medicine. In and out 10 mins. Only saw a NP (they do a fantastic job, just making the point my cost didn't include seeing a doctor with higher qualifications).
@DrSethMurray Agreed. I was in that skeptical boat. I think doing some training helped. See how you can harness the power and how to construct your prompts.
We as scientists should be forward thinking and willing to try new things, but still be skeptical and thorough with vetting results.
@DrSethMurray I have found it useful in helping me edit my writing to be more concise, or in the style I need.
Also, it has helped me write code when I try and over complicate/engineer a given task.
I've taken a few classes on how to interact better with LLMs, so that has helped.
I have found my hobby breeding project:
Pineapple tomatillos.
Breeding targets:
- Increased seed size (they are typically size of eraser to size of a small cherry)
- Decrease shattering (dislike picking off the ground & in soil)
Now to learn everything I can about tomatillos!
I have some images with ground truth data from my PhD that I'd like to publish as a dataset for others to potentially use and develop models.
Anyone recommend some options for publishing those?
@szintri Does Nebraska state fair have a long ear corn contest?
I swear our previous field technician (Paul) at @isuagronomy wins that contest almost every year.
@juliosbernal@PlantTeaching Yup. Upright architecture helps reduce the stress caused by higher planting densities, therefore helping the plant to achieve it's yield potential. More plants per unit of land getting closer to their yield potential means more overall yield.
Isn't home gardening fun ๐
24 pounds of delicious tomatoes (not counting the pounds of cherry tomatoes we've already picked)
San marzano are my absolute favorite for making sauce (left side).
@meyerbohn I'll try zotero. The new mendeley reference manager is terrible. Just want to search and manage my PDFs. Sheesh. Pull them up on tablet or desktop. That too hard to ask lol.
