A new Science Advances study shows offshore wind turbines actually warm the sea surface.

Spikes near as much as one degree Celsius, which is as large as natural summer variability.

Turbines slow the wind, explains the study. This weakens mixing, shuts down upwelling, and in turn traps heat at the surface.

The warming appears within days and spreads tens of kilometers from the wind farm.

These warm waters then heat the air above, creating extra upward heat flux and a more unstable boundary layer.

Stack this onto bird kills, sediment disruption, underwater noise and microplastic shedding, and the picture is clear: Offshore wind isn't solving an environmental problem, it's becoming one.

It’s notable that the NATO response to Russia’s drone incursion across the border into Poland makes no mention of US military assistance to defend Poland: Rutte mentions Polish F16s, Dutch F35s, Italian AWACS, and German Patriots. ▪️ As of 11:00am local (10:00am GMT), Polish services had found the remains of seven drones and the remains of a missile.

▪️ As far as I understand, all of the drone parts discovered thus far belong to Russian Gerbera OWA-UAVs. Gerbera is a cheaper and simplified version of the Shahed. It can be employed for strike, reconnaissance and decoy missions.

▪️ The missile is the AIM-120 C-7 AMRAAM medium-range air-to-air that was fired from NATO fighter jet to shot down a Russian drone.

▪️ Drone debris was found in the following settlements: Cześniki, Czosnówka, Wyryki (damaged building), Krzywowierzba-Kolonia, Wohyń, Mniszków, and Olesno. Missile debris was found in the settlement of Wyhalew.

▪️ The spokesman for the Operational Command of Polish Armed Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Jacek Goryszewski, emphasized that violations of Polish airspace on such a scale are an unprecedented situation for the Polish Armed Forces and allied forces.
