In these challenging times, we can’t lose sight of the importance of combatting climate change. I’m excited to hear about how companies like @Microsoft are finding a way to play a role.
Still waiting for the EU and individual democratic nations to officially condemn the police brutality and attacks on the free press escalating the USA.
For how long are we going to stand by, watch and say nothing?
Halting funding for the World Health Organization during a world health crisis is as dangerous as it sounds. Their work is slowing the spread of COVID-19 and if that work is stopped no other organization can replace them. The world needs @WHO now more than ever.
Scientists: you should wash your hands because of Coronavirus.
People: I'm gonna stop flying, hoard masks, work from home & totally rearrange my life.
Also Scientists: the #ClimateCrisis will kill millions - we must use clean power & change how we get to work.
People: No way.
Every year, the world's five largest publicly owned oil and gas companies spend approximately $200 million on lobbying designed to control, delay or block binding climate-motivated policy.
This is about the people vs. the elites.

.@BBCWorld reports oil plans slowdown for exploratory research in Australia.
But WHY am I reading these two sentences in the same narrative. Dear Australian government what is going on in your mind?!

.@Ecosia you write this on your website. Why not market yourselves directly as a carbon extraction company (as well as planting trees)? I think you will expand your market reach. It taps directly into the concerns of the public: too much carbon, how do we take it out.
Microsoft makes 'carbon negative' pledge.
Reading this just as my company posts a drive towards plant based options in the office with an assessment of the global impact of all food served. Such mobilisation brings hope for change.

People worry about how much land we'd need to supply the US with clean energy. Well, @elonmusk and I have independently calculated it and we both come up with something roughly comparable to the area we currently use for maple syrup or golf. A square about 100-120 miles per side.
It is HORRIFYING that in the face of the #AustralianFires, the total devastation. That the government openly supports the cause.
Our leaders drive us into despair because they lack the creativity to simply invest in new, non-damaging, industries to generate employment.
