@tellum_mutatis You'd want to go with a catamaran or trimaran I think. Their sailing performance is superior, trimarans especially, and you can store fuel in the outriggers. A colleague of mine who lived in Venezuela (Dutch, left late '10s) would load up cheap fuel and then sell it in Grenada.

@tellum_mutatis The biggest upfront cost in a venture like this would be the security bond you'd have to pay to the U.S. gov't... who knows what it'll be but I bet something stupid like $500k

@tellum_mutatis I think small arms would mostly be sufficient with the heaviest weapons being a GPMG and an anti-materiel rifle, nothing that can't be hidden below-deck in 30 seconds. This way you'd also keep a lower profile and you wouldn't have to pay so much in bribes to port authorities &c.
