“Africa is not short of vision,” Prof Carlos Lopes told delegates at the Consultative Dialogue on the New African Financial Architecture for Development (#NAFAD).
Speaking at the dialogue in Abidjan, Lopes underscored that the continent has long been clear about its direction. Through Agenda 2063, Africa has set out a compelling vision, one that is integrated, prosperous, and driven by its own citizens.

Assessment of the Middle East crisis consequence reveals industries at risks in Africa with economic, financial and social impacts. What to expect, according to Pr. Carlos Lopez ?
🔘Disturbances in logistics with air and maritime traffic re-organisation ;
🔘Supply chain bottlenecks for agricultural intrants and energy ;
🔘 Financial uncertainty with rising and fluctuating insurance costs ;
🔘 Increase in consumption prices at pumps due to an over-reliance on investments in Gulf countries and last but not least
🔘macroeconomic fundamentals changes over time such as currency devaluation, imported inflation.
But mainly, the crisis is an opportunity for Africa to reorganize and take care of its own issues vs keeping on relying on others. Read here full itw here :

My op-ed in the FT on the US payments deficit. The deterioration in the US net international asset position over the last years has less to do with trade deficits and more to do with the outperformance of US stocks and the dollar over the last decade. https://t.co/eOCkmU5szz

Today, on #AfricanIntegrationDay, we celebrate the strides taken towards continental unity!
A key highlight was the recent President's Dialogue between African leaders and financial institutions.
