Metrics have taken over Youth Baseball. That being said you see a lot of showcase only players & less players that know how to actually play the game. Situational awareness is suffering.
One of the quiet realities of coaching...
You pour your heart into hundreds of kids over the years.
Teach them. Push them. Laugh with them.
And then — most of the time — you never see them again.
But every once in a while, you cross paths with one of your old players.
They remember you.
You remember them.
It's often a little surreal.
Honestly... its the best!
I’ve made it a practice to stay in touch with former players who I had a special relationship with.
It just feels good.
It makes the time, energy, and effort feel seen.
No real lesson here.
Just something I’ve been thinking about lately as we are wrapping up our summer soon.
🚨BREAKING: Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) says he will vote NO on the effort to restrict Trump
"I would NEVER want to restrict any future president, Republican or Democrat, to do this kind of military exercise that was very successful."
This young man lives in Palm Springs and is committed to our program in Orange County! He’s a ‘28 Grad playing w/ the @TromblyTribe ‘27 Grads and has an opportunity to have a big tole on a talented team.

Shout out to Chris “Fuck Your Load Management” Paul for starting all 82 games this year in his 20th NBA season. And for a 34-48 team that was going nowhere. It’s called being a professional, motherfucker.
Head coaches get the spotlight.
But assistant coaches are the backbone.
They set the tone, drive development, and often keep the team together.
Great programs don’t just have great leaders.
They have great assistants…

Being the Head Coach is tough. Some think coaches just get Gatorade dumped on them and yell. That's not what it's about. You navigate difficult situations, that come out of nowhere, that you did not create, but will affect you. It's worth the work for the difference you can make!
1. Being a high school coach:
1. You're a mentor, not just a strategist.
2. Wins & losses won’t define you—character will.
3. It's about molding lives, not just players.
4. Every practice is an opportunity to teach life skills.
Coaching impact goes beyond the court.

Skipping your high school teams spring break tournament to go on vacation with your family, isn't an option.
I can't believe this even needs to be said, but it does.
@BradleyGloves A fly ball is often a “miss” by the batter. Most guys I played with are trying to square it up. Line drive or ground ball is ten times more likely to be a hit over a fly ball unless you’re Aaron Judge strong which I’m fairly certain most kids aren’t.
Willie Bloomquist on ASU baseball's talent and team character:
"We don't recruit turds. We recruit good kids...We try to do our homework and bring in kids that are academically oriented and good citizens that want to work hard and get better."
@FOX10Phoenix
Being a college baseball player is a privilege. Don’t judge your baseball journey as a success or failure by comparing it to someone else’s. What happens in this game and what it brings to you is unique to everyone!
Division I and II "walk-on" and "preferred walk-on" recruits are required to meet initial-eligibility standards and be certified by the @NCAAEC.
