The State Climate Extremes Committee therefore verified the 120.1 mph wind gust on Dec 10, 2021 at the Princeton 2 SE mesonet site in Caldwell County as the new KY record wind gust. Though it was the result of a tornado, the committee saw no reason to exclude it.

Get to visit a bunch of 5th Graders next week (in person!!) for some science communication. Those who remember being in 5th Grade, or have 5th Graders of your own (10 to 11 year olds for those outside the US), what would you like to hear from a Weather/Climate Scientist?

I keep thinking of families fleeing their homes, not knowing if they'll ever return, or if they'll even have homes to return to. I thought about this with Syria. I think about this with every major conflict. It always makes my stomach hurt.

It's Intl Women & Girls in Science Day and I'd like to share a list with you! It takes grit and determination to succeed and a whole 'nother level of it to keep talking climate science and climate action in the face of daily insults. But these women do. https://t.co/NG9Zkzt8Nc
if you are so inclined, check out my latest work simulating infrasound in supercell thunderstorms and the feasibility of detecting unique acoustical signatures to identify which supercells will undergo tornadogenesis https://t.co/Ur33asJzNr
1) Include climate change projections in extreme precipitation guidance (tricky to do, but possible! Believe me, it's my research topic!)
2) Update these rainfall records. Some haven't been updated since *checks notes* 1973. SMH
3) GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE!

Enjoyed a lovely December beach weekend. The oldest rearranged every shell that crossed her path and the youngest tried to chase down a pack of beach birds.
