@sleepdiplomat One more: Question 8: How does the lunar cycle affect sleep in those who can see it at night (outdoor sleepers, people sleeping with their windows open, etc.). Any data? (Question because of the bright mid-Autumn moon a few days ago.)
@sleepdiplomat Question 7 for The Matt Walker Podcast: Why do we sleep generally less as we age? What is the mechanism? What is the "normal" rate of decline?
@sleepdiplomat Thank you Dr. Walker for your work as a sleep diplomat. The questions are of course just suggestions for your podcast for when you finish all your other topics. Do what you think your audience is interested in, of course. Thanks again. And did you get your institute funded?
@sleepdiplomat Question 6 for the Matt Walker Podcast: What do you do if two wearables report inconsistent sleep data? Throw both away? Buy a third to see which is wrong? Give up?
@sleepdiplomat Question 5 for The Matt Walker podcast: If adenosine buildup is what makes us fall asleep, why do we fall back asleep after waking four hours into sleep? Wouldn't half the adenosine be gone, eliminating the sleep pressure to fall back?
@sleepdiplomat Question 4 for The Matt Walker Podcast: Can you say anything about eyelids? Did evolution find the appropriate balance of opacity for sleep while still allowing morning light to wake us? How well do eyelids block all those LEDs in our bedrooms these days?
@ethanjweiss I was looking at joint supplement literature for friends, and was surprised to find glucosamine seemed to have effects on glucose, inflammation, and T2D and was associated with reduced mortality. I wasn't expecting that! Real? Example: https://t.co/QiTVrYqyor
@IFdiet But is the purpose of IF to lose weight? I thought it was to lengthen the amount of time our cellular repair programs are engaged. If repair starts six hours after eating, 10:14 results in 4 hours of repair. 16:8 results in 10 hours of repair, or 2.5Γ.
@ethanjweiss Isn't the problem not with a particular movement, but with human desire to seek confirmation, whatever that might be? Scientists are trained to keep an open mind, but most are desperate to know they are right. This causes many problems, especially when there isn't one answer.
@sleepdiplomat Question 3 for The Matt Walker podcast: I just today listened to your AMA3 with Peter Attia. It would be fascinating to hear updates on some of the things you mentioned there, including orexin, caffeine updates, REM sleep, centenarian sleep, website coaching, etc.
@sleepdiplomat Question 2 for The Matt Walker podcast: Are there any studies on the effect of CPAP on duration of sleep stages 1 to 4 and the quality thereof (spindles etc.)?
@sleepdiplomat Question 1 for Matt Walker's podcast: are consumer devices that measure sleep up to the task? I'm skeptical a watch or ring can give good data. Do they nonetheless have some utility?
@yowheresmystuff@KLM@AirFranceKLM lost our two bags 49 days ago. One went to our destination a day late and they didn't tell us (still not home). One went to LAX 23 days later, but LAX was the wrong place. @KLM_US and @AirFranceUS haven't been able to get it from LAX to SFO for 26 days. #KLMbroken
