This update is no longer a simple avatar release but a significant update to the entire foundation of the #E2V1 world. When I first talked about dropping avatars I was eager to keep things moving and referred to a very simple system to test skins and movement, then to subsequently implement the full version after that.
While this approach would have brought new content out quickly, it could have turned into weeks of extra development time with little upside for the wider community, apart from testing the movement and appearance of the avatars, there would have been little else to do until another subsequent update.
Therefore I made the decision to focus solely on implementing the core part of the full system we plan to use long term on the platform.
I apologise that this release will take a little longer than originally anticipated, having moved away from the initial lower spec'd plan, but I'd like to get this right & ready for a wider audience to start using and enjoying. As much as I'd love to push out updates faster, I will be taking this approach to #E2V1 development in the future as well.
The plan will still be to release to our testing group first after our internal QA, test and then stabilise. If all looks good and we're happy with how everything is performing, we will push forward with a public release.
There will inevitably be ongoing adjustments, additions and tweaks to these type of systems over time.
It may seem like a long time, but #E2V1 was only released to our testing group 7 weeks ago! How crazy is that? I know for me it feels like many months already.
Nonetheless, during this short period of time we have not only released a couple of updated versions, and an updated version to the Earth 2 Launcher, but the team has also been working incredibly hard on the #E2V1 and #BE mechanics for the Chapter 1 systems - and there is a lot involved in this upcoming release.
We will be dropping an article later this week, which I believe will help our community understand the extensive list of features planned for this release and in turn explain why it is taking a little longer. I'd rather not spoil all of the details, but the article contains a lot of information about the various systems we're developing including rules of life, avatar synthesisation, death, saving, skins, day/night cycles, free to play model, avatar vitals, how land ownership fits in with all of this and much more. It is important to keep in mind that each of these systems needed to be designed and implemented, which takes time.
The article will also begin to reveal some of the design plans I have been working on to increase utility for T1 land, which will also include various T1 classes. I also intend to follow through and expand utility on T1 land into other upcoming mechanics on the platform, some of which will be revealed in a separate article in the near future and are also part of the Chapter 1 release.
Ideally, all going well, we will be testing early multiplayer at some stage this quarter and as mentioned earlier this year #Hordes in Q3, #EggHunt in Q4 & maybe some early buildings on properties. In addition to these goals, we have a couple of wild card features floating around in between as well.
I know I reiterate it from time to time, but the long term goal for #Earth2 has not changed. We are building a #geolocational #metaverse - a platform! We still want #Players building cities, providing more individualised experiences, advertising, trading, shopping, e-commerce, socialising and so forth. And I still have plans to link #E2V1 into #AR and support #VR, but we cannot do all of this at once. I am also looking at ways we can expand the team and setup a studio, probably in East Asia, to speed up development.
The current features we're focusing on plan to expand utility for land on a wide scale & introduce various experiences inside #E2V1, providing potential benefits for land owners & #Players alike on a broader level, while at the same time allowing our team to introduce mechanics that will be used throughout the future of the platform, test limitations and work our way around challenges as they arise.

The footage in previous showcase videos was not pre-rendered, it was all recorded real time in our engine & @E2Obsidian has discovered the corresponding locations inside #E2V1 to validate this!

We have a few features & updates rolling out before we get into the building phase, but it really is going to be epic when #Players start building outposts, then towns, then cities and then megacities inside #Earth2 in the future!
Also just to be transparent, we have a little feature creep on the #Avatar release. I want to include some of the smaller follow up scheduled updates we had for after the #Avatar release so #Players have a few things to do as we work toward some of the bigger releases.

Here's a little demo of the refined #Katana#ComboStrike including updated #VFX & added #SFX. A couple of months ago we hired our own talented, fulltime Visual Effects dev & a really experienced Sound Effects team 🌎✌️
This attack demonstrates our own custom made animation from our animators, with our own in house #VFX & #SFX created & then synced with the animation ready to be implemented in game.
Although these are initially being created for #Earth2Hordes, they will form part of what I like to refer to as #experiences we are creating for inside #E2V1, as we plan to use them in other areas of the platform as well.
Obviously we're working on other things in parallel, but I just thought it was cool & wanted to share it with a little explanation for those who are interested as we mentioned in our article (URL below) from last month that the #VFX for the #Katana were still under development at the time.

As I've noted a few times, #Earth2Hordes will be our first mini-game, but importantly it will help us build, implement & test a number of important foundational parts critical for the long term vision of #E2V1 such as multiplayer, animation, network syncing, movement, character controllers, dynamic navmesh, combat, NPC AI, VFX, SFX, optimisation, integration & many other aspects.
Any game dev who has experience releasing a game will tell you that making one takes dedication & long hours with a lot of blood, sweat & tears. We will use this experience with #Earth2Hordes as a team to develop & apply similar processes to other facets of #Earth2 for the #EcoSim, #Raiding, #Conquer & general exploration of #E2V1, which will ultimately lead into the creation of other experiences & layers to #Earth2.

Building a geologically accurate 510,072,000 km² open 3D Earth is no small feat, but we have laid the foundations & are looking ahead 🌏✌️
The combat mechanics we are currently designing, creating, and implementing not only matter for #Earth2 #Hordes but will also be used throughout different areas of #E2V1 long term. This includes things like the multiplayer system, character controllers, syncing, navigation mesh, animations, hotkeys, enemy units, enemy AI, health, mana, stamina, hunger, and many other systems needed to release a mini-game like Earth 2 Hordes.
So in the short term, the development of these systems not only contributes to providing our #Players with engaging experiences inside #E2V1 via our first mini-game, but also represents important progress we can & will use for future parts of the #Metaverse platform we’re building.
Although it's been challenging to manage alongside my other obligations, I’ve really enjoyed working on the game design for #Earth2Hordes so far. My goal is not only to expand on the utility of #Land, $ESS, and #Resources, but to ensure #Earth2Hordes is a mini-game that’s fun to play & maybe offer a few laughs along the way—challenging and engaging but not too serious.
Though it’s not part of the current footage, there is a specific feature I wanted which has already brought out a few chuckles during playtests, so I look forward to demoing that in future footage releases.

Some Rules
I cannot list ALL of the rules, but there are quite a few things entrants need to consider:
🔷in order to be selected you will need to provide detailed artwork from multiple angles so our #3D team can successfully model the design. Our concept artists also may alter designs where necessary to fit our #3D development pipeline.
🔷submissions will need to avoid any IP infringements and guarantee their work is their own. All #skins released by #Earth2 to date have been fully developed by our team from scratch following a very strict process from concept art to creation and we plan to maintain that approach.
🔷designs should be general proportion for female / male body types for now. Designs should also avoid situations that may cause excessive clipping in an animated / in motion 3D character (i.e no super puffy jackets, pants, loose clothing, other things that would cause excessive internal clipping). If you ignore these guidelines your submission will be skipped.
#Earth2 (#E2V1) is a 1:1 scale digital version of our planet Earth so given it's size, optimisations are key for us. This means there will be certain technical limitations on #skins and #clothing items. So over complicated designs or designs our team deem may cause optimisation issues will also be skipped.
Timeframe
It is important to note that #winners of this competition will not see their #skins released for at least another 2-3 months. Our team already has a number of other #community #skins they are currently working on in addition to some #Earth2 skins & items which are scheduled for release over the next 6-8 weeks.
Remember above all this is a fun thing! I'd much rather our team release #community #designed #skins, so even if your design isn't chosen you can still congratulate those that were chosen and try again next time!

Just a couple of reminders on what to expect after the #Earth2#Essence withdrawal system comes online 🌏✌️
1⃣There will be a few days before withdrawals are processed in order to give everyone time to submit their withdrawal requests. This allows those who want to move their #Essence into their own wallet & possibly trade equal opportunity to receive the tokens around the same time.
It also gives us some time to check the systems and make sure things are operating as expected.
2⃣ We may process some small transactions over the first few days for testing purposes, but the idea is that once all looks clear, we will process the bulk of the withdrawal requests around the same time, as mentioned above, to give everyone equal opportunity. After the first bulk is approved, withdrawals will be processed more frequently.
This is a significant release, so we appreciate your patience as our team roll out the update. If everything runs smoothly, our community can expect to see the first sign of the withdrawal system over the next #48hrs with the bulk withdrawals being processed some days after that if the systems look good.
Again I urge people to read my previous posts about #Essence and #Earth2, our primary focus is on building #Earth2 as a platform. Also, the land upgrade system may come online a lot earlier than previously anticipated.

Important to read if you’re interested in #Earth2 or the upcoming #Essence#token release 🌏✌️
I know we have been quiet on the public front recently, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes, but I’d like to provide you all with a little update on some important current & upcoming #Earth2 topics around the #Essence #token & other developments in progress.
#Essence is a little bit different from other #tokens given the various #utility options it will provide its holders over time via the #metaverse platform we're developing. For this reason, most people may end up keeping their #Essence on the #Earth2 platform for future opportunities such as the broadcasting system, building, powering, staking, voting, and other planned utility, but the option to withdraw that #Essence to a personal wallet, into #web3, completely separate from #Earth2 in order to store or trade at an external price determined by #Essence holders, is also no doubt a big deal and important step for our project and platform.
As I have mentioned many times in the past, #web3 is still in its infancy and still emerging. It’s more or less impossible to predict what the next few months look like in this space, let alone the next few years. Governments are still figuring out how it fits into their typical financial frameworks not to mention domestic/global compliance – and to be honest they are faced with many complicated issues they need to find legally binding solutions for.
Look at the recent development with UniSwap and the SEC. Irrespective of my personal opinion, this alone has resulted in us now once again being forced to seek further legal advice on potential ramifications of us even setting up an initial swap on a UniSwap DEX, of all places! This is the type of thing we sadly need to expect and be cautious of moving into #web3, not only due to government legislating but the clear reluctancy of the fiat and banking industry to adopt, or even co-exist, with #web3.
To put your minds at ease, us seeking legal advice will NOT postpone or delay the release of the token, everything is still on schedule, it just means we may not be able to setup the initial swap on UniSwap, it is best to assume this as the case until we update otherwise (we're likely not going to be able to lead on this type of thing, but we will be watching how things unfold closely). Having said this, I believe we can still release the smart contract along with the whole system which will allow Players to withdraw their #Essence tokens to their wallets, deposit and basically do with the token as they please.
Ironically, I believe this is how #web3 should be functioning, allowing the community and holders of the token to decide when, where and how it's traded instead of projects setting up specifically to pump and dump. Our approach may even open up more opportunities for the community long term to set up their own swapping options without the influence of the actual project itself. I believe long term organic growth that is in line with our development over time is more desirable.
I cannot stress enough, we need to be clear that #Earth2 is providing this option to its Players first & foremost, because Players wanted a place to trade #Essence as a #token, externally on #web3. I don't want to jeopardise the project. For this to work, people need to understand that #Earth2 is not making any guarantees on its trading price & is not responsible for the trading price of the #token, this needs to be accepted as a commodity / utility #token & holders of the #token have the ability to trade freely in an external environment separate from #Earth2. So there is no “hey Earth 2” or “hey Shane” – I don’t like the token price, do something!
#Web3 really is a minefield out there and my plan is to approach it with caution while still remaining as compliant as possible, allowing us to continue with our long term goal of building a geolocational #metaverse. This is one reason we have initially implemented systems that require some levels of manual interaction from our team with regards to token movement, at least to be begin with, so we can ensure all is working as planned before looking at ways to automate.
We need to start the journey somewhere, and excitingly that start is right on our doorstep now. Here are a few things to consider & a few other comments to round off this little update:
Is the token going to skyrocket in value as soon as it’s released?
I don’t know. We are here to build a #metaverse, not pump a #token. If people see value in the #token and what we are building over time, growth should come organically.
Are we going to see huge volumes?
I don’t know. But not expecting it for a while as many will likely keep their #Essence in platform and as we know, many are reserved on the price they want to sell for.
Does it provide an opportunity for those claiming they would sell their Essence for pennies if they had the chance?
Yes, I think it’s a good thing if they are cleared out early leaving those who value the potential of holding their #Essence, but it will be interesting to see whether those who have made such statements in the past do end up selling for the pennies they claimed they would sell for over such a long period of time.
Will I need ETH to withdraw my Essence to my wallet?
No. We understand many of our Players are new to #web3 and don’t have any crypto holdings yet. To at least make the first step easier for our #Players, we have been working on a system that will allow Players to pay for the transfer in E$. We have also been working on our internal batching system, meaning withdrawals should only cost the #Player E$1-$2 when processed (keep in mind this is based on the current price of ETH which may increase from time to time).
Is Earth 2 going to spread awareness?
Not initially. We will deploy the system, make sure it’s working as planned, this will likely take some time as we need to take extreme care with all of the procedures. Once things seem stable we will start looking at potential awareness campaigns when necessary. I’d also prefer to have some form of E2V1 live before we push anything significant, so will be working hard toward this goal.
Is Earth 2 going to email Players?
Similar to spreading awareness, we will not email hundreds of thousands of Players until the system is stable. We may send out emails to smaller groups of Players, but nothing major until all is stable.
When are the rejections and refunds going to be processed?
This will still occur before the #Essence withdrawal function goes live.
What about the major Resource release with OU detection and generation?
Our team is still working hard on resolving issues here, one at a time. It was a major release and many issues have already been resolved. We will continue focusing on fixes and improvements, but we do not expect it to be fully stable before the #token launches with the withdrawal system.
