I'm glad some of you like current Star Trek, and I wish you all the joy of it. But I want something VERY DIFFERENT from my science fiction series and something VERY DIFFERENT from Star Trek than this. Farscape was great. I don't need Farcape in Star Trek. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was great. I don't need Buffy in Star Trek. Game of Thrones was great. I don't need it in Star Trek. Harry Potter was great, I don't need it in Star Trek. Rick and Morty is great, I don't need it in Trek.
I get that we live in a world now where when you go to the bookstore, there's one shelf of science fiction that's mostly film and TV tie-ins, and then like ten shelves of fantasy romantasy superhero teen identity fiction. And yes, I UNDERSTAND what they're doing here—I've been watching films, TV series, and Star Trek for a very long time. But I'm a simple cave person in my tastes: I want actual SCIENCE FICTION in my science fiction, and I want STAR TREK in my Star Trek. That's all I ask. This blending of every genre into every other genre, and blending every franchise into every other franchise ain't for me. I'd like 80% more Gene Roddenberry in Star Trek, and 80% less Joss Whedon please.
One of the reasons Classic Trek was so popular was they didn't try to do a version of it for every taste. They made it universal and they made sure there was a place for everyone in it without patting themselves on the back for it. And then they got about the business of telling great Star Trek stories, not doing endless gimmicks. Tell great Star Trek stories. Show us a world of the future that we'd all want to live in, where everyone works hard to grow and learn, to explore, and to build a better society for all.
Start there.🖖
🚨 SNW OUT OF TOP 10
Viewing figures are out for #StrangeNewWorlds’ S4 premiere & sadly it failed to make Nielsen’s Top 10 Streaming Originals.
SNW S2 had a solid run, & S3 started well but dipped out mid-season & hasn’t returned to the charts since.

Chris Fischer a Producer on #StarTrekStrangeNewWorlds admitted they could care less about plot. They only care about tapping into emotion. There boys and girls is indeed the problem with Kurtzman Trek
Sitting here thinking that in Roddenberry/Berman Trek. Something like The Burn would have never caused Earth to turn isolationist and retreat from the Federation. They would have solved it. #StarTrek
