Joining in the bullying because the timeline is bullying.
Assaulting a stranger because you found them being assaulted.
Being a bystander during an injustice because ‘I don’t wanna get involved’.
Talk is about bodabodas, but the entire society IS bodabodas in varying degrees.
You have not experienced heartbreak until you get to a point where you have to literally go on your knees and beg God to remove the thought of that person from your heart because you are so hurt that you can physically feel the pain.
Heartbreak is so terrible that it can cause panic attacks or even send you to a sick bed.
You could be in class, at work, in church, at the gym, and all of a sudden, you are crying.
You wake up some days and your heart aches so badly. Or it is the triggers like music, perfumes, restaurants, shows, etc. that start ruining your mood because they remind you of them.
It just gets to a point where your only resort is to legit beg God to take the pain away.
We joke about it a lot, but if you have experienced a severe heartbreak before, you know exactly what I am talking about.
There is nothing that can take the pain away. But eventually, you will find a way to live with it. There will be nightmares. And every day when you wake up, it will be the first thing you think about. Until one day, it will be the second thing.
People don’t understand how famous Michael Jackson was. Nobody else came close. He was known in every 3rd world country as well as the west. He couldn’t PA at nightclubs or restaurants like other celebs. No sitting court side at NBA games or ring side at boxing events. Why? Because fans would just cause chaos and shut the place down. People don’t understand that level of fame.
The whole world tuned in to watch the thriller premier, before social media and YouTube etc. He could sing, dance, choreograph, hardly did interviews, aura was another level, world leaders would ask to meet him. Roads shut down when he was staying at hotels etc.
Nobody before or since can compare, stop these lame comparisons. People used to faint when they saw him in person. It was insane and unheard of. There will only be one Michael Jackson and never again will we witness such talent and aura. Never.
After decades of working with children and learning about people who work with children, this is what I believe:
Most people who run "discipline" camps for kids are doing far worse things to your children than you can imagine or accept.
Especially in those "militaristic" camps.
My therapist told me:
“When a person grows up feeling unseen, they learn to love by over-giving. They pour into everyone else, hoping that, one day, someone will finally pour back into them. So they become the care taker. The fixer. The one who shows up, even when no one shows up for them.”
And the hardest part? Deep down, they're not trying to be strong. They're just waiting for someone to do for them what they've spent their whole life doing for everyone else.
I have literally decided in my life I can’t suffer making money and suffer spending it too. Can’t find parking? I am leaving. Reserved tables and being forced to buy what they want ? I am leaving, can’t get service within 20 minutes I am leaving… i won’t suffer while making someone rich.
Pardon my lugezigezi but why is a primary school child going to school at 6am.
What time do you wake these little ones up.
You people are exhausting these kids at a very young age.
I don’t know where women are getting this idea that paying your bills is masculine. Stop rebranding problematic gender roles. You are not masculine. You’re simply an adult. Financial dependence is one way to economic, emotional, physical and sexual abuse!
I have new-found respect for parents, particularly the present ones.
You may be having the worst possible day, you may have been fired from work, you may have bills chocking you, you may be physically unwell, but you must find a way to put a roof over your children's heads, clothes on their back, and food in their bellies. That's nothing short of being a superhero.
You ensure that the kids have everything they need without having to stress them with the ugly truth that sometimes the price you pay for provision is ridiculous. Sometimes you have to sacrifice your peace of mind, your sanity and even your life - just to provide.
It does not matter what you're going through, the kids must never sleep hungry. It does not matter how happy you are, the kids must be happy. It does not matter how much you're drowning in depression, you must find a way to keep the kids alive and well.
When some of us decide to not have kids, it's not so much that we hate kids. It's just that we are not as brave and courageous as the rest of you. We are afraid to have to cater for other human beings when we too are struggling to cater for ourselves. Some might call it selfishness but yeah, it is what it is.
Anyway, when you get a chance, hug a present parent. Send them a message of kindness and support and most importantly be there for them when they need any kind of support.
Small small unsolicited advice:
If you can live your life without an audience, especially one online, do it.
If you want to have a sensitive, loaded conversation, best not to do it on a platform optimized to commodify attention & strong emotions.
The algorithm always wins.
