Ndugu Mdau wa Kiswahili,
KAKAMA inapenda kukukumbusha kuwa zimebaki siku chache kufikia tukio hili muhimu. Tafadhali usikose kushiriki katika maadhimisho haya ya kihistoria. Tunakutarajia.
Message to President Yoweri Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda
Mr. President @KagutaMuseveni ,
On the 15th of January 2026, you contested in the Ugandan presidential elections. On the 17th of January 2026, you were declared the winner of that election by the Electoral Commission.
Since that time, videos and recordings have continued to surface of you referring to those you contested against—and their supporters—as terrorists.
There have also been continued reports of army and police crackdowns on civilians, particularly in the central region that voted more heavily for opposition candidates than for you and the NRM party.
One of the candidates you contested against, Robert Kyagulanyi, has had his home under siege since the day of the elections and has been forced into hiding for his safety to date.
On the 23rd of January 2026, his home was again attacked at night by masked armed individuals—some in army and police uniforms and others in civilian clothing. Accounts shared on social media by Barbie Kyagulanyi describe unauthorized entry, threats and assaults on her and their household staff, destruction of property, and theft of phones, electronic devices, CCTV equipment etc.
Another opposition Member of Parliament, Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi, a Vice President of the National Unity Platform (NUP) for the Central Region, has been charged with terrorism for allegedly attacking a police station. These charges contradict earlier reports indicating that his home was attacked on election night by armed men in uniform, resulting in the deaths of 10 people.
Two other Vice Presidents of NUP—Dr. Lina Zedriga (Northern Uganda) and Jolly Tukamushaba (Western Uganda)—have also been reported on social media as having been abducted. Their whereabouts remain unknown to date.
Another key opposition leader, Dr. Kizza Besigye, is in unlawful detention. He has been reported to be in poor health and denied access to his doctors.
A Catholic priest, Father Ssekabira, is in prison, among other reasons, for associating with Robert Kyagulanyi, an opposition leader.
Civil society organizations have been de-licensed.
Activists such as Sarah Birete are in prison on questionable charges.
Many other Ugandan citizens are missing or in unlawful detention for their political views or for supporting opposition candidates.
Mr. President, you are the President of Uganda and the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces. Your son is the Chief of the Defence Forces.
Can all of the above be happening without your knowledge or consent?
If you did not authorize or consent to the above actions, what steps have you taken to restore discipline and legality within the army and police, especially when they operate under your direct authority?
You campaigned on the theme of protecting the gains. As a citizen, I ask: what does that mean in practice?
Does it mean placing opponents under siege, arresting them, labeling them terrorists, and imprisoning them for indefinite periods?
The Constitution of Uganda—enacted under your leadership—provides for multiparty democracy and allows candidates dissatisfied with election results to seek redress before the Supreme Court. When opposition leaders are hunted, their homes surrounded by armed men, and their parties terrorized, are those constitutional guarantees still meaningful?
This pattern did not begin in 2026. It has been ongoing against different political actors, with the latest targets being NUP leaders and supporters.
As a country Uganda, are we moving forward, or are we moving backwards?
If you genuinely won this election, why prevent opposition leaders from using lawful and constitutional means to challenge the election results if they wish to?
What peace is being protected when some sections of the population do not live in peace? Do we have one Uganda, or two?

According to the decision of the World Liberty Congress on political prisoners, adopted by the General Assembly in Berlin on November 8th, 2025, Doctor @SarahBireete is recognized as a political prisoner.
The World Liberty Congress condemns her detention, calls for her immediate release and urges relevant international human rights organizations and intergovernmental bodies to demand an end to the politically motivated persecution of the prominent Ugandan human rights defender.
Here is the reason Byabakama is still refusing to give us the National Voters' Register, 8 days to the election, despite the legal command for them to avail it 14 days to an election! He knows the amount of deliberate fraud in there. Tens of thousands of multiple entries, inconsistencies in voters' details, very many people who died years back, and yet their details are still on the register, etc. When we exposed some of this fraud, the regime responded by arresting Dr. Sarah Bireete and the developers of the Fannon App - which tool enabled citizens to discover these irregularities easily. Even then, the voter location slips are exposing the criminal schemes on a daily basis.
There has never been an Electoral Commission as incompetent, partisan, and fraudulent as Byabakama's. The PEOPLE OF UGANDA must reclaim their country and put to an end all this nonsense.

This was yesterday as we campaigned in Entebbe. These criminals did not know that CCTV cameras were recording the savage brutality. A citizen brutalised in this manner for simply holding a national flag and supporting a political party of their choice. Museveni and his criminal regime are in their evening.....all this is a sign of fear. UGANDA WILL BE FREE.

What is this Now..! Very Disturbing @ Rule of Law. Uganda Security Agencies must adhere to the Constitutional Presumption of innocence, treat suspects as innocent, avoid emotional conduct on duty and avoid torturing suspects whatsoever. Let @Ugandapolice1 explain the contents here in.! as seen circulating on social media.
The @EUinUG, by travelling to Gulu to meet Mr Salim Saleh in order to complain about the CDF's uncivilised conduct, demonstrated sheer weakness. What official position does Saleh actually hold in the government hierarchy to warrant being approached by the European Union? Is the EU now embracing Uganda’s deep state—this institutional ultra vires—where formal government structures exist merely on paper, while the Museveni family runs a parallel regime?
If the EU is aware that torture in Uganda is systematic—and it is—then the only principled course of action is to exercise its extraterritorial obligations through sanctions against the UPDF. Torture is prohibited under international law absolutely and is subject to universal jurisdiction. There are no grey areas.
Yet here we are: a crook holding the office of Chief of Defence Forces boasts on Twitter about torturing a Ugandan—and your response is to drive to Gulu to lodge complaints with his uncle? Millions of Ugandans have been tortured—not only by this man, but by others wielding the machinery of state: the Police, the UPDF, the so-called intelligence agencies.
The UPDF must be sanctioned. An international arrest warrant should be issued for cannibal Muhoozi—whether through the ICC or any other court vested with universal jurisdiction over such heinous crimes. Sanction the @JudiciaryUG for its chronic failure to protect Ugandans from a regime frozen in anachronism. Sanction the state prosecutors who have betrayed their legal duties by persecuting citizens in violation of the UN's human rights standards. Sanction the Uganda Prison Service officials who continue to admit and detain prisoners visibly bearing marks of torture.
Uganda’s domestic legal system is defunct. But Uganda is party to international treaties that render sovereignty conditional—not absolute.
European nations continue to sell arms to Uganda, fully aware that these weapons are used to maim, silence, and kill citizens. This is not ignorance—it is complicity.
Coddling despot Museveni and his batshit-brained son is not diplomacy—it is collaboration. It is an affront to every principle the EU purports to uphold. Geopolitical expediency, in this case, amounts to moral cowardice and duplicity. The EU’s integrity must not be bartered for access or influence.
The EU–Uganda relationship must be anchored in or bound by shared values. But what values do you share with systematic human rights violators? What is the purpose of your foreign policy on human rights if it cannot be deployed against those very tyrants who have forced us into exile—and who continue to brutalise those unable to flee?
If the dictator did not enjoy your support, he would not have the impunity to oppress us. He uses your silence and your money to keep us under the boot—and we are tired.
Kakwenza Rukirabashaija--The Oracle of Mpororo
The abuse of power in this country sickens me. How do you find peace in torturing someone whose only crime is thinking differently and then keeping them locked away?
It’s really painful to watch fellow humans being treated like they’re worthless.💔
