Abstract labor hater. Stop the thing-ification of social relations.
Have mercy, been waitin' for the bus all day.
I got my brown paper bag and my take-home pay
After a year of reading and discussion I'm happy to share:
C.L.R. James and the Johnson-Forest Tendency Discussion Guide!
We dug through many JFT readings & scanned new documents to highlight underappreciated figures from the JFT.
Check it out!

The Sabbath and top metal acts at Villa Park is a good idea, but with there being no priest, napalm death, carcass, cathedral on the lineup (a crime against Birmingham!) maybe an alt-origins of metal at either birmingham city or west brom ground?
While the German election results are grim overall, the stunning performance of Die Linke should be a stark lesson for the Western left more broadly: the path lies with full throated, unabashed emancipation on all fronts, not trying to triangulate into a right lite
For @BostonReview on February 20 I'll be moderating a virtual event with @BrentCebul, @LGeismer, @dygottlieb, Nicole Hemmer (@pastpunditry), and @dl_wiggins on their new volume MASTERY AND DRIFT: PROFESSIONAL-CLASS LIBERALS SINCE THE 1960s. Register here:

@Permanentkritik Thanks. It's all good.
I've read mostly Open Marxists, Heinrich and Sam Chambers.
I'll dig more into Frankfurt School and Adorno lectures since Holloway etc follow them.
@Permanentkritik Basically, Rose claims Adorno is focused on reification in culture and I'm interested more in the power of it in capitalist society at large...
@Permanentkritik Reification as how thingification or commodity fetishism becomes socially reproduced. Moreso the latter though I feel like assuming domination is slippery?
@outsidadgitator @sorenmau Some issues that have been raised are it relies on volunteerism and the example of electricity is good because needs are straightforward but gets a lot more complicated in other sectors. It also still relies on labor time...
@Permanentkritik Muddy translations in Marx (MECW doesn't translate reification at all, while Penguin translates it twice - equating commodity fetishism with reification basically)...
