@UBAGroup has to be one of the most backward banks out there.
Their ATM retained my Zenith card with a specific message: Card retained. I walked into the bank to understand why my card was retained and all I got was:

@UBAGroup They part that really got to be was they and atm don’t know. In 2026, what is system diagnostic/logs for.

What do these banks use for monitoring purposes or are they these clueless or just bunch of ill-informed staff.

they don’t know because the atm is a computer and does not know. I should go to my bank to collect another card. They said #cbn does not provide a reason too other than to go to my bank.

@AirtelNigeria Same way @AirtelNigeria is sacrificing & milking their users…. With their so-called technical agents telling me that they chose to deduct 5k from my credit balance for browsing while I still have an active data on my line.

For many years, Bill Gates used to fly Economy, not because he couldn’t afford First Class, but because he didn’t consider it good value. It’s five or six times more expensive, but only marginally better (and you all get to your destination at the same time).

In the same vein, I could afford a really nice car at this point, but I’ve never been a car guy, and I don’t need a Lamborghini or a Mazerati (which I can’t even spell). A Volvo station wagon does the job just fine, and I wouldn’t value the difference. I don’t need to drop $1000 on a bottle of wine at dinner either, since I know I’ll get the same enjoyment from a $35 bottle.

So what is wealth good for, in the end? Besides providing security, it also gives flexibility. After all of the experiences I’ve had, the most important thing I’ve learned about money is that, once you have enough (by the previous definition), you can choose to have less of it in exchange for choosing how to spend your time. And spending your time doing something meaningful to you…that’s worth way more than a Mazerati.

@jon_d_doe The truth you dish out can be a hard pill to swallow sometimes except for those who lived such experiences. Some of us wish we had know and done better but the bitter truth is…. experience is always a better teacher.

Except the cost can be pretty expensive.
