We need a #CityForAll. Today, I am proud to call for a housing action plan centering our most vulnerable. Zoning reform must be paired with bold investments. Alongside @NYCSpeakerAdams, my colleagues, and advocates, we are putting forth solutions that leave the status quo behind.
Today, the NYC Council announced ‘City for All,’ a holistic housing plan for all New Yorkers.
Here’s what we’re most excited about:
✅ More tenant protection vouchers to keep people in their homes
✅ Funding for AHTP to ensure that tenants are in housing without bad conditions
✅ Funding to make repairs for NYCHA tenants
✅ Funding to repair empty NYCHA apartments and move in new tenants
These plans will help our city thrive by stabilizing our communities. We look forward to working with the Council to deliver justice to our clients and low-income New Yorkers in all boroughs.

Housing justice is a women's rights issue -- women headed households & women of color are more likely to be renters & face eviction. During our #PowHerTheVote panel this week, Cea Weaver of @Housing4AllNY spoke about bringing renters & women to the polls for #HousingJustice.
NEW: NYC landlord lobby groups are merging. And they have one goal: raising our rent.
Despite its innocent name, the New York Apartment Association's true agenda is protecting real estate profits at the expense of working families.
Carolina Tejeda was getting rental assistance from a NYS program after serious car crash injuries kept her out of work
But then ~$1,200/mo disability made her too “rich” to qualify for the rent aid
Now she faces eviction from a $1,254/mo Bronx apartment https://t.co/mwII2WtVMD
Many NY tenants can fight rent increases and evictions as Good Cause takes full effect. We are already wielding this new law in eviction court and you can too!

Fact: The words “affordable housing” have been mentioned more in four days at the #DNC than in the four years that Donald Trump was president.
We’re not going back! 👊

Landlords are registering tens of thousands of additional rent-stabilized apartments with New York’s housing agency than in recent years after the state imposed tougher penalties for failing to comply

Deeply unfortunate. But the Mayor can't supersede what we do in Albany even if he tries often.
This is why we must fund the Housing Access Voucher Program (HAVP) next year.
Criminalizing homelessness won’t solve the crisis.
Keeping rents low + housing our homeless neighbors will.
This SCOTUS decision is cruel. But our fight for homes for all continues.
@MarkMNYC@DavidFBrand@SandyforCouncil@NYCHousing The state law was not thrown out. What was thrown out was a Department of State's interpretation of a state law on application fees and whether or not application fees could mean broker fees.
Albany has set the standard, passing the strongest #GoodCause in NYS and closing @GovKathyHochul's loopholes.
This is just the beginning: tenants are organizing across the state to bring #GoodCause to their cities. We won't stop until everyone has a safe, stable home.
WOW! Albany Common Council just opted into Good Cause Eviction protections, the FIRST in New York!! TYSM to those that moved for this in the NYS Legislature (@housing4allNY@UTAlbany + many others). For ALBANY, small landlord = ONE (1) unit, giving max protections to tenants.
Today is the 50th Anniversary of the signing of the Emergency Tenant Protection Act (ETPA)!
Good excuse as any to dig into Tim Collins' intro to the Rent Guidelines Board and Rent Stabilization System: https://t.co/zoBtHW4GIj
Here's a nugget:
“If I hadn’t come across this TikTok video, I would have just settled for the 18% increase because there’s nothing cheaper out there. Or I would have just moved altogether"
20+ tenants shared their post-Good Cause experiences with me for @WNYC-@Gothamist https://t.co/lgisPLesQY
