Tenants are rallying against Bronstein Properties for neglecting repairs & subjecting them to hazardous living conditions. We need long-term solutions that will keep tenants securely housed! We must pass #CleanHands NOW to hold landlords accountable for violations!
NO REPAIRS, NO RENT! Bronstein tenants say ENOUGH to landlord abuse. Tenants have filed 42,616 violations against #WorstEvictor Bronstein Properties. The state must pass #CleanHands to stop evictions in violation-ridden buildings @GovKathyHochul@AndreaSCousins @CarlHeastie
FIVE (!) upstate cities have now opted into #GoodCause...and every single one has closed the LLC loophole that @GovKathyHochul and the state legislature introduced.
We're not stopping until every tenant has these protections.
Tenants have faced $300 to $600 rent hikes, poor maintenance, and unresponsive maintenance since Cass Hill Development, founded by Marc Paquin, acquired the property last year.
DVTU is pushing for a collectively negotiated lease to protect ALL Danker tenants. ✊🏽🏠
Today, reps from the Danker Village Tenant Union visited their leasing office, calling on owner Marc Paquin to respond to requests for negotiations.
Instead, tenants were locked out of the office and were refused any response to union negotiations.
Jim McNamara spoke on the conditions at Danker Village and announced that several tenants will file Tenant Dignity and Safe Housing Act claims to sue Cass Hill for repairs.
"A 32% increase with the current conditions is not justifiable."
Yesterday, in 90 degree heat, 50+ tenants held a march and rally at Danker Village in Albany to fight against $600 rent hikes and declining maintenance, and to call for rent stabilization.
Cass Hill Development has only responded with neglect, intimidation, and deceit.
Mahmood Chaudry, a tenant at Danker Village, describes his neighbors being displaced, "There are many senior citizens here who fled their buildings out of an inability to pay their $500 increases. There are students getting PhDs that have to move in the middle of the semester,"
Danker Village is a vibrant complex of low-income working families, immigrants, and students now being pushed out after Cass Hill bought the property last year.
This is an all too familiar story as tenants face skyrocketing rents across the city- Albany needs rent control!
Ithaca, Albany, Kingston: Which NY cities are opting into the state's new Good Cause Eviction Law? And what does it mean for tenants? https://t.co/7KRQIjJ0AO
@UTAlbany@PUSHBuffalo@ithacaTU@forthemany
Millions across the country are struggling to keep a roof over their heads -- because landlords keep raising the rents for no reason but greed.
@KamalaHarris must pick up @JoeBiden's call for rent caps.

Biden's rent caps would protect us from rent-gouging and keep families in our homes.
While we wait for federal action on rent control, NYS can act now to keep rents affordable -- by expanding rent stabilization to cover every renter in the state.

NEW: Two years ago, Kingston tenants won a historic 15% rent reduction.
But New York State’s @NYSHCR won’t enforce it. And tenants are leaving their homes as a result. https://t.co/4eTO8YVGQu
