🚨EXCL: Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus finally responds to Ronaldo’s statement… and he did NOT hold back. 😳🇵🇹
🗣️Jorge Jesus: “I read Cristiano’s statement yesterday and my first reaction was simple: he should never have said those things publicly.
“When a player starts believing his name gives him the right to question every decision, you have a problem.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is a legend of Portugal, but legends are remembered for what they have done
“they are not guaranteed minutes because of their past.
“I cannot select a player because of his reputation while ignoring what he gives us on the pitch today.
“People keep asking why he has been dropped and benched.
“The answer is football. At this moment, I have players who can offer more intensity, more movement and more balance to this team.
“If Ronaldo cannot accept that, then that is his problem, not mine.
“Portugal does not belong to Cristiano Ronaldo.
“It belongs to the Portuguese people. No player is bigger than the national team, and I will never sacrifice the team just to keep one superstar happy.
“If Cristiano thinks Portugal cannot function without him, then he needs to understand something: we are building a team, not a monument to one player.”
One is no longer wanted by his teammates or even by his national team players. Everyone is waiting for him to retire, yet he still refuses to accept that his time is up and insists he deserves to keep playing.
The other delivered the greatest performance by a 39 year old in World Cup history, and in just a few days, he will be given the greatest farewell ceremony, surrounded by his people.
A fitting ending for both players.
From beginning to end, Messi was always the exception. Every road led him to the top — even in the final chapter.

Lionel Messi will receive the highest honorary distinction from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Argentina’s largest university.📖
The university has named Messi Doctor Honoris Causa, its highest honorary title. He is set to receive the recognition on Tuesday, ahead of Argentina’s farewell match against Benin.
Another prestigious honour for Lionel Andrés Messi Cuccittini. 🐐🇦🇷
It’s unfortunate that the World Cup came at a time when he wasn’t at his best physically or anywhere near his peak condition. That led many people to question his level and even his chances of competing for the Ballon d’Or.
But once the season started and he got back to full fitness, everything changed. He has looked like a completely different player, in incredible form, answering every doubt on the pitch.
18 goal contributions in 9 games this season.
He is reminding everyone once again why he is the best player in the world.
Get his Ballon d’Or ready. 🏆
Lamine Yamal over the last 5 months…
- Beat Ronaldo’s Portugal
- Beat Kane and Bellingham’s England
- Beat Mbappé, Dembélé and Olise’s France
- Beat De Bruyne’s Belgium
- Beat Messi’s Argentina (still the goat) 🐐
Lamine is in a league of his own, on a completely different level from the rest of the world’s players.
🚨🗣️ Reporter: “There are rumors that you want to join FC Barcelona at the end of the season as a free agent?”
🗣️🇳🇱 Virgil van Dijk: “I am definitely considering that. I have already said that my Liverpool chapter will be done after this season, and my favorite club to join would definitely be FC Barcelona. 🔵🔴
🗣️ “I just hope I can have a great season with Liverpool so that Barcelona and Hansi Flick consider me a worthy player to join them.” 👀🇳🇱
🚨 Lamine Yamal tells The Guardian: “I went to Leo Messi and said: thank you”.
“I just thanked him a lot for everything he has done and how he’s the best. I’ve always believed he is the best”.
“I always try to distance myself a little from things that seem beautiful for show. The moment came from within. I saw him there, so I went to thank him for what he did for football, it came spontaneously”.
