Bubbles is the mum of the suds and she has been reserved a few times but due to unfortunate circumstances had to cancel.
She’s around 10kg, a ball of energy, unsure with some people but once she knows you she’s extremely loyal and loving.
We would love for her to have another dog in the home, she’s really just a puppy herself still at 2 to 3yrs old.

Armani is 7yrs old and has been here now almost 2yrs.
He’s a shy boy, very overlooked and we are worried he’ll end up here for much more time to come.
He’s great with other dogs, will come around to people in a home and gentle on the lead but easily spooked.

Aus gegebenem Anlass möchte ich euch gerne das Thema #Depression aus meiner Sicht, aus der Sicht eines Betroffenen, näher bringen

Bevor ich beginne ein wichtiger Hinweis:
Ich werde in diesem Post gezielt auf die Krankheit eingehen und somit auch sensible Themen behandeln.
Sollte euch diese Thematik aktuell zu sehr belasten oder sogar retraumatisieren, überspringt diesen Post jetzt bitte

Eine ausgeprägte #Depression begleitet dich immer und zwar ganz egal ob es regnet, schneit oder ob die Sonne scheint.
Es gibt natürlich auch Tage an denen sie dich weniger stark in deinem Denken und Handeln beeinflusst und trotzdem ist sie da.
Sie ist da wenn du lachst, wenn du weinst, wenn du glücklich, traurig, wütend und nachdenklich bist.
Das tückische daran ist, dass sie zwar für die "Außenwelt" unsichtbar, für Betroffene allerdings allgegenwärtig ist.
Depressive Menschen wirken meist für ihr Umfeld gar nicht depressiv, da sie gelernt haben die Krankheit zu verstecken. Deswegen ist es für nicht Betroffene nahezu unmöglich die Zeichen zu erkennen und gegebenenfalls Hilfestellung zu geben. Außerdem lassen die meisten depressiven Menschen oft keine Hilfe von außen zu, um keine "Last" zu sein. Ein depressiver Mensch wendet schließlich an schlechten Tagen genügend Kraft auf um zu "funktionieren" und sich nichts anmerken zu lassen, da bleibt keine Kraft mehr übrig um sich auf andere Menschen einzulassen, die "Tür" zu öffnen und Hilfe anzunehmen.

#Depressionen sind in unserer Gesellschaft weit verbreitet und zwar weiter als man vielleicht denken mag.
Hilfsangebote und Therapieplätze sind allerdings leider rar gesät, oft mit hohen Hürden wie beispielsweise langen Wartezeiten verbunden, was für die Betroffenen eine zusätzliche Belastung bedeutet.
Dazu kommt, dass depressive Menschen immer wieder aufs neue, sehr "wervolle" Tipps bekommen wie zum Beispiel:

"Geh mal mehr raus"
"Treib mehr Sport"
"Ernähre dich gesünder"
"Hör auf dir was einzureden"
"Seh mal die positiven Dinge"
"Lach doch mal mehr"

Diese "Tipps" sind keine Tipps und auch wenn sie vielleicht gut gemeint sind, sie bewirken in 99% aller Fälle das genaue Gegenteil.
Ein Außenstehender der einem Menschen der gerade in einer tiefen #Depression steckt solche Dinge rät, kann im schlimmsten Fall das "Zünglein an der Waage" sein, welches dem Betroffenen den letzten Rest gibt...da die Suizidrate bei Depressionen sehr hoch ist

Deswegen:
Wenn ihr einem depressiven Menschen helfen möchtet, dann seid für die Person da wenn sie euch braucht und öffnen möchte!

-Übt keinen Druck aus!
-Akzeptiert es wenn die Person nicht reden möchte!
-Hört mehr zu, als selbst zu sprechen!
-vermittelt ein Gefühl von Sicherheit

Und am allerwichtigsten:
Gebt keine gut gemeinten Tipps wenn ihr NICHT selbst von #Depressionen betroffen seid und spielt diese Krankheit NICHT herunter

Denn #Depression IST eine Krankheit und zwar eine hinterhältige!

Ihr helft am meisten, wenn ihr dies akzeptiert!
In meinen tiefsten depressiven Phasen hilft es mir persönlich einfach zu wissen, dass jemand da ist mit dem ich sprechen kann wenn ich dazu bereit bin.
Ich lebe seit nun ca 24 Jahren mit dieser Krankheit und hatte viele schlimme Phasen...
Oft war ich an dem Punkt an dem ich dachte es gäbe keinen Ausweg und doch habe ich der Krankheit immer wieder den Kampf angesagt!

Deswegen sage ich euch:

Ihr seid nicht allein damit!
Gebt euch nicht auf, niemals!

She was handed in by a Galguero and is approx 5yrs old. She’s really sweet, a bit skittish at times but this will pass quickly.

Sonny ❤️
Sonny is an overlooked Galgo and that’s sad because someone is missing out on a lovely companion.
He’s 6yrs old, has improved greatly in confidence, walks lovely on a leash and is good with other dogs.
Sonny came in with Cher. Cher was a little girl and left almost immediately. Sonny has been waiting since ❤️

He arrived to GDS after already waiting a long time in anotheg shelter. He’s now waited a long time here as the right home hasn’t come along.
He’s a nervous boy that would do much better with other dogs in the home.
He’s 6yrs old, doing much better on a lead in recent months on his daily walks with Sandy. He’s struggled in kennels.
Can we find this wonderful boy a sofa? Just a simple share makes all the difference 🙏🏻❤️

They are still at the stage if you push them too much they might nip but we will of course be working on their socialisation now that they can leave quarantine (this weekend).
