Azzam Al-Shami fell from the fourth floor when an Israeli occupation bombing struck the house his family was sleeping in, fracturing his skull and lower jaw. His father says Azzam fell into a coma, lost consciousness and lost the ability to speak, and has been left paralysed, living with a brain shunt fitted more than a year and a half ago. All he wishes, the father says, is for his son to go back to how he was, to hear his voice, to see him play in the street like other children, carry a backpack to school, and call out "Dad" and "Mom" again.
Azzam now lives on a feeding tube, through which his family gives him his food, water and medicine, and on a urinary catheter that means he depends on diapers the family can only obtain with great difficulty. They have had a medical transfer referral ready for nearly a year and remain on waiting lists, with no one contacting them. His father stresses that Azzam has a right to medicine that is not expired, to proper treatment and follow-up, to changing supplies and to the kind of diet his brain needs to heal, all of which are close to nonexistent in Gaza because of the Israeli occupation's total blockade, which has stripped the territory of medicine and supplies and continues to obstruct medical evacuations.

❤️🩹Five-day-old Mohammed Abu Eida is in the neonatal intensive care unit with transposition of the great arteries and a hole in his heart. His condition is critical and needs two urgent operations, one to close the valve and another to correct the arteries, neither of which can wait. His mother is appealing to kind-hearted people to stand by her newborn and help him through this fight for his life, as he lies in intensive care only days into the world.
Mohammed is one of many sick and premature babies in Gaza whose survival now depends on care that the territory's shattered health system can barely provide, under a total Israeli occupation blockade that has gutted hospitals of equipment, medicine and the ability to perform complex surgery. His family is hoping that support and, where needed, transfer abroad can reach him in time.

"They shot the boy in the head, a direct shot, by a sniper." Bahaa Abu al-Ajeen describes how his 3-year-old son Rayan was killed in his arms in the Wadi al-Salqa area east of Deir el-Balah in central Gaza by Israeli occupation terrorists. The two of them, with one other man, were walking toward the family's greenhouses when Israeli occupation soldiers opened fire from an abandoned house. The bullet struck Rayan in the head and exited through his eye. As the boy bled in his arms, his father, himself shot in the leg, begged the soldiers to save his son and reached for his phone to call an ambulance, but a soldier seized the phone and told him to call no one. Bahaa pleaded with them to forget about him and save the boy. Instead, he says, they bound him, dragged him from place to place on a stretcher, dumped him in an empty area and left him unconscious. When he came to, his son lay beside him wrapped in a dark shroud, and the soldier told him he was being taken to prison. He asked only to bury his son first. The family says they were outside the so-called "Yellow Line," in an area not under direct Israeli control, when the shooting happened.
Rayan's killing is not an aberration but a pattern. The shooting of Palestinian children, often in the head and from a distance, has been documented again and again by human rights groups across both Gaza and the occupied West Bank, where monitors like Defense for Children International Palestine and B'Tselem record children shot dead who posed no threat to anyone, in incidents that almost never lead to any accountability. Despite the ceasefire that officially took effect on 10 October 2025, Israeli occupation forces have continued to kill Palestinians in Gaza in their hundreds, frequently firing on civilians who stray near shifting, often invisible front lines around their own homes and farmland. A three-year-old carried in his father's arms, shot through the head while walking to the family's greenhouses, and a wounded father denied even the chance to call for help, is what that reality looks like for one family among thousands.
