Air pollution isn’t just bad for us—tiny increases in ozone can scramble ants’ chemical signals, making them misidentify nestmates and unraveling their social order. 😮🪲

Ants recognize their nestmates by their distinctive hydrocarbons, including alkenes. Ozone pollution can degrade these alkene compounds, leaving these social insects stranded in a world of strangers . In PNAS: https://t.co/6qlpiqt49o
Air pollution sparks civil war inside ant colonies
Air pollution may be turning ants against their own families, according to new research which suggests that such pollution could break down insect societies.

Ants rely on scent to recognise their comrades, and when they are exposed to common air pollutants, other members of their colony react as if they are enemies https://t.co/cuFNGhYhPP

Amazing new reporting by @ChrisUKSharp! His new article (Link Below ⬇️) covers the complex ecosystem of secrecy surrounding the Crash Retrieval+Reverse Engineering programs and their origins. Incredible revelations!--
1. The CIA's Weapons and Counterproliferation Mission Center (WCPMC) collects all-domain data from multiple agencies to assess non-human origins, categorize the types of intelligence that controls them, and investigate their intentions. It was also the CIA’s primary liaison to the UAPTF (🚩) and traces its lineage directly to early OSS efforts and the infamous Magenta craft recovered in Italy in 1933!
2. The study of the recovered Magenta craft became closely integrated with Manhattan Project activities! In 1946, the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) worked with Italian and German scientists at Wright Field to continue the research that initially began between Germany and Italy reverse-engineering the Magenta craft.
3. The Central Intelligence Group (CIG) later inherited the study of the Magenta craft when the Foreign Intelligence Branch was transferred from the Manhattan Project to the CIG Office of Special Operations, before being incorporated into its Nuclear Energy Group. CIG was the primary agency involved studying the Magenta craft after the OSS and before the CIA.
4. OSS chief William Donovan possessed intelligence about the Magenta craft under the McGregor Project. Charles S. Cheston, Assistant Director of the OSS, informed the Chief of the Research and Development Branch that the McGregor Project was transferred to his branch in June 1944.
5. Retrieval missions involving materials of non-human origin are hidden within legitimate retrieval programs involving the CIA's Directorate of Operations, the US Navy, the National Underwater Reconnaissance Office, and US Special Operations Command.
6. Following the recovery of underwater craft by the CIA Directorate of Operations’ Maritime Branch, they are transferred to the Office of Naval Research, who passes them on to defense contractors for analysis. The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (@WHOI) has provided deep submergence vehicles to support these retrieval efforts.
7. The US has collaborated with allies on recoveries, such as the case in Varginha, Brazil. The U.S. and Russia cooperated on at least one undersea retrieval mission, and the U.S. and Chinese intelligence agencies have been tracking UAP and exchanging data.
8. Other types of retrieval operations occur between the CIA and DoD, including recoveries of non-human materials in cave systems involving elements of the U.S. Army!
9. The DoD focuses on analyzing the craft's structure and design, the Department of Energy (DOE) specializes in studying its propulsion systems, and the CIA’s Directorate of Science and Technology safeguards adapted technology derived from UAP research.
10. Former CIA Director of Science and Technology Glenn Gaffney blocked an attempt to transfer non-human materials from Lockheed Martin by VP James Ryder, who proposed transferring these materials to an external organization (Bigelow Aerospace/AAWSAP) due to recruitment challenges.
Safe to say Congress has their work cut out for them if they are sincere about getting to the bottom of this coverup!
