The way this review describes Cusk's book reminds me of Netflix algorithm slop: a bunch of characters baldly stating their basic intentions + mid-level aphorisms, observations, abstractions. Different levels of culture, same erosion of self & specificity

🚨@AbdulElSayed on @MikeRogersForMI's sudden reversal on data centers:
"This comes days after embarrassing reporting in @LeverNews about the fact that (Rogers) & his wife are knee-deep in investments in AI (and) about how much money they might make from a data center bonanza."
NEW: Trump’s DOT is trying to gut regulations governing font sizes for plane tickets. Studies show that smaller font sizes can trick customers into thinking they’re getting a better deal.
For @curaffairs, wrote about the time I got sick after moving into a new apartment, everyone gas lit me, my algorithm went MAHA, and ya ok I did get really political about it. I have words for all involved, including the internet libs and MAHA grifters: https://t.co/4gUODPd5K7
We are The Lever Union.
We believe the people who make independent journalism possible deserve a meaningful voice in their workplace. We’re at the bargaining table working toward a fair contract that supports The Lever’s staff, mission, and future.

Another great essay. My motto lately has been that if you are going to be a leftist in the time of fascism, you have to look cunty. The entire time I was in DC I wore tiny sunglasses in doors, at night.
Amazing essay. Been saying original writing/reporting are now just raw material for social media talking heads, podcasters & tiktokers who actually travel socially. If we disappear, so do they, but even if they feature our work, they are the ones who get the eye balls, thus the $
I wrote an essay about what I, cribbing from Baudrillard, call the literary "hologram"—the easily summarized subject of a book, rather than the text itself.
We are unwittingly nudging readers to consume holograms rather than books. And it's a disaster.

🚨BREAKING: The Supreme Court just helped @JDVance create Citizens United 2.0
In the text of its ruling, the court insists that the alleged strength of already weakened anti-corruption laws justifies a ruling that now creates a new conduit for billionaires to buy elections.
“Given the meaningful prophylactic measures available to combat quid pro quo corruption or its appearance, the Court concludes that the political-party coordinated-expenditure limits at issue here are ‘disproportionate’ and are not ‘necessary,’” the court’s majority claimed.
When @ecarmichael19 and I covered Mamdani's inauguration back in January, this is one of the things Ross Barkan identified as a litmus test - would the mayor reliably endorse the DSA candidate in congressional races, even against other influential Dems? He's now done it.
Some news: I've been selected for the Best American Essays 2026 anthology, for my article "The Super Bowl Exposed the Brutality of America's Class Divide." Salute to @mashagessen for putting me on; respect to @NathanJRobinson for giving me the creative freedom to write it. 🫡
Same thing happened at the inauguration. We weren’t allowed to leave our “print media” zone without a staff escort. They even accompanied me to a nearby porta potty. Wrote about it for @curaffairs : https://t.co/PAcpSBeRUa
The "Union Now" rally with Bernie Sanders and Zohran Mamdani has a "new media" (influencers etc.) section up front and "traditional" media far in the back. Not a fan!
New: @ecarmichael19 did a great interview with Rachel Cohen, the Chicago activist you might remember for telling Greg Bovino he's going to the Hague. Worth reading for anyone interested in getting more involved in protests & community activism!
I was very fortunate to be able to speak with @ecarmichael19 at @curaffairs about my experience working with @NYCMayor and what his election means for DSA and the Socialist movement! I'd love to hear your thoughts!
