@sordorican Yes! If the interpreting agency is listed on google maps and has been claimed by that business, chances are it populates on our website https://t.co/4tTK8SS9jr we have several reviews of interpreting agencies already. You can DM me if you’d like more information.
#deaffriendlyFAIL When a healthcare facility routinely denies my request for a LIVE Interpeter to my appointment and instead forces me to use #VRI. This is a clear example of “profits over people”. I’m on my second cry today @providence and totally depleted.
@deafcongress I went to a large healthcare clinic today for some routine stuff. No one asked me about whether I’m experiencing COVID symptoms. All the hearing patients get asked this before they get checked in. Really? What an epic #HealthcareFail#COVID19#Deaf
So disappointing to see @INBOUND denying my accommodation request for ASL interpreters to their upcoming conference. ADA violation? Discrimination? What say you?@HubSpot@judithheumann@Oprah
Happy International Day of Sign Languages!
In April @CNBC interviewed @deaffriendly CEO @echoness4you about her Yelp-like business for the hard of hearing community. She signed and used an interpreter: https://t.co/nEumttJGem
@LoriAnnLaRocco shares the backstory.

Patience and resilience are qualities often attributed to disabled people.
Although these are good and necessary qualities, they also reflect the harsh reality that disabled people are almost always forced to wait and are constantly under attack.
@deafcongress True! Acknowledging you speechread is another slippery slope that can lead to unrealistic expectations snd miscommunications. I also choose when and where I’m willing to do it.
@charlhyde I know the feeling. It happens to be petty often too. There are days I am can, cool snd collected and other days I’m pulling my hair out. Hope today is a better one!
While it is important to wear face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic, it also increases anxiety and stress for Deaf communities. For a lot of us, we rely on lip-reading and facial expressions. Deaf-friendliness is crucial more than ever for Deaf communities during the pandemic.
@SlackHQ Thanks for this information. However, I requested #ASL interpreters, not captions. Captions will be great for hard of hearing non-signers but not efficient for deaf people whose primary language is ASL. Let me know if I can point you to some really qualified ASL interpreters.
@SlackHQ I just registered for the event on Mar 24th and am looking forward. I'm a Deaf person & will need access to #ASL interpreters. There was no way for me to request accommodations on the registration form. Please be in touch with me ASAP so we can get this arranged. Thanks!
