If you were waiting till the last blog post to start reading about our Eclipse trip to Chile, that time has come. The last blog post was published over the weekend, read all about our trip here: https://t.co/YCe3SWVGzX The next adventures coming in 1.5 years.
Anders has landed in Stockholm, so all of us are back now. But turns out for several of us only the body has returned - the mind hasn't been traveling by the plane and is still in Chile for now.
Have landed in Rome Fiumicino. Half of us went to Rome center for sightseeing, the other to Ostia beach to catch some Italian summer while we can (apparently cold back home)
Today was a day for sleeping longer, driving less, walking slower, shopping more and going to sleep earlier. We have got back to La Serena. -29.94818,-71.26649
Tropic of Capricorn - the most Northern point we visited on this trip. Further on to La Portada arch and then to Paranal observatory. -23.44285,-70.4281
Coming back from Monturaqui crater. We reached it, beautiful scenery with snowy mountains. On the way back also saw a grazing Vicuña and a running Nandu bird. -24.2272,-68.9198
We tried to revive the long and deserted road from Copiapo to Antofagasta by stopping at some nice views and even went for a very cold swim in the Pacific (to tick a box). The final stop was the Hand of the desert. -24.1602,-70.1627
We're again going north-to Copiapo. To make things more interesting we're not driving along the highway but a quite deserted and in some way nice road close to the ocean coast. Finally now there's phone coverage to post this, but the coordinates were taken 3h ago. -27.5385,-70.8492
Total eclipse in 8 hours, but we are already at the place we chose for observation. Sun has just risen above the mountains in NE. Waiting for air to get a bit warmer as currently hands and ears are freezing. -30.03628,-70.73349
After a nice marine safari (we saw Humboldt penguins, dolphins jumping, sea lions, nutrias, cormorants, pelicans, thousands of other birds. Now walking on Isla Damas. -23.2905,-71.5302
We wanted to go on a boat trip this morning, but the wind was too strong, so instead visited Elqui valley, had a tour and sampled beer in a local brewery as well as had a tour and sampled pisco in a local destillary. -30.0314,-70.4832
Lai arī no liela attāluma un nelielāskaitā, tomēr izdevās dabā satikt arī Humbolta pingvīnus. #latviesicelo#travel#travelphotography#chile @ Isla de Cachagua https://t.co/i7Fb1dXRlw
Visiting La Silla observatory, sunny weather but quite cold here on the top of the mountain at 2375m over sea. Should have taken gloves.. -29.2591,-70.7336
Now we are on beach next to Cachagua island and are watching Humboldt penguins. It is not the high season for their visibility, but we spotted around 5 of them walking to and from fishing or guarding their nests. -32.5842,-71.4558
