[$1.8M CRO Case Study]
Our recent menu optimization test added $1.8M to our client's yearly revenue.
Here's how a simple change in navigation drove massive results:
This client sells a variety of products online, targeting a broad consumer base.
They had decent traffic but people were struggling to find what they wanted (nightmare navigation situation).
All traffic was directed to the homepage, but the menu was basic and unhelpful.
We proposed revamping the menu completely (to improve product exposure and navigation).
Previously they had a simple category-only menu:
- No descriptions
- No images
- No social proof
Huge missed opportunity.
So we developed three variants (an ABC test):
🠚 Original: Just categories (basic)
🠚 Variant 1: Categories with images, descriptions, and a testimonial (comprehensive)
🠚 Variant 2: Categories with descriptions and a testimonial (balanced approach)
We implemented Variant 2, which surprisingly outperformed the others.
This was surprising, as we initially expected Variant 1 with images to be the top performer.
It proves why you ALWAYS need to test and focus on user experience.
The Results Breakdown:
Monthly Revenue Increase: +$151,192
Yearly Revenue Forecast: +$1,814,304
Revenue per Session: +$0.77
The mega menu strikes again!⚡
Key takeaways:
1. Don't underestimate mega menus.
2. Always test your assumptions. What seems intuitive might not always be the best performer.
3. Simple changes can lead to big results.
