This morning the vessel NIRIIS had a mechanical issue which required the deployment of the Emergency response towing vessel (ERTV) at Neah Bay. The GARTH FOSS is towing the NIRIIS and will meet the DENISE FOSS in Port Angeles to assist with anchoring.

Commencement Bay - TFD is currently working on a boat fire in the bay. @TacomaPD rescued the boat’s occupants from the water, and crews are working to put the fire out.
Gasoline sheen has dissipated and is not recoverable. No observed shoreline impact. No wildlife observed or reported in area of sheen. Ecology responders are on scene and will work with response partners to monitor the area for signs of continued fuel release.

Spill responders are headed to the site of yesterday's fire at the Port of Ilwaco to follow up on reports of oil in the water. We're working with the facility to deploy boom to contain the oil.
