Women of migrant descent have an even higher pay gap. As a Black female academic, I resigned from a job this year because they were paying me less than I earned in 2007 when I didn’t have a postgrad, a Masters or even a PhD!
Agitate for us too.
We’re all in this together! ✊🏾
@DrEmilyRidge presented a stimulating paper on the problematics of care in post-war women's gothic fiction. She is also organising a seminar on The Discourses of Emotional Labour which you can find the CFP for here: https://t.co/2ZTH4qCn5p
The fantastic @DrEmilyRidge will be speaking about Daphne DuMaurier, Muriel Spark, & Elizabeth Taylor in the context of "Calculated Care in Post-War British Women’s Writing" in half an hour! Please dm us for the Zoom link to no 1 of the English & Creative Arts Seminar Series 2020
I posted my talk from last weekend's @eden_nuig conference on my blog.
In other news, I'm now one of those people who has a blog. I will barely update it and I refuse to put any effort in to it

@eden_nuig Thanks for having me, and for putting on such a lovely little conference! Everything was super fascinating & it's always a joy to get the opportunity to talk about Joyce, especially at non-Joyce themed events (I love those too, but it's just cool to get out of the comfort zone.)
And our final paper is Laoighseach Ní Choistealbha “‘Gaoth Chróndearg na Goimhe’: responses to nuclear disaster in the bilingual corpus of the poet Conleth Ellis” where Laoighseach warns us she'll be talking about coronavirus! #ageofprecariat
What an excellent two days! Our final panel of the conference “Aesthetics of Precarity in 20th Century Irish Literature” is starting soon with @MyExplodingPen delivering a paper titled “‘sowival of the prettiest’: Female Precarity in James Joyce's Dublin”
Excited to present my paper, "'sowival of the prettiest': Female Precarity in James Joyce's Dublin", in the final panel of @eden_nuig's Age of the Precariat: Identity and Precarity Conference, "Aesthetics of Precarity in 20th Century Irish Literature". It's been a great two days!
Concluding the "Human Rights and Global Injustices" panels is @MariaCu94 with “Humanitarian Aid during the Cold War: A comparative exploration of Médecins Sans Frontières and Oxfam’s operations in the post-Khmer Rouge Cambodian crisis” #ageofprecariat
Now @sarahadunne is delivering a paper on cyber-racism and online hate titled “White Precarity? Examining Expressions of Precarity and Apocalypse by White Supremacist Groups on Twitter.” #ageofprecariat
In our penultimate #ageofprecariat panel of the day “Human Rights and Global Injustices” @saharisright presents "The Festive Faithful: Cultural Rights of Pakistan’s Religious Minorities”
Thanks so much to all who organised and presented @eden_nuig over the past two days. It was really great to be part of it. @MyEDF@EuropeanWomen @NUIGCDLP
Concluding the Panel “Giving Voice to Vulnerable Female Identities” is @AoifePrice presenting a paper titled “Hearing from the voices of women with disabilities."
