An historic victory for unions in the South, Emory University PhD Student-workers have voted 909 to 73 (92.5% Yes) to be represented by @SEIU Workers United Southern Region!
Thank you to everyone past and present who work made this possible! We did it!
It’s been a month since we made our letter to President Reed public, and ~5 months since we first sent the letter directly him, with no direct response. This silence has left us feeling unheard and undervalued, resulting in a complete loss of faith in the administration.
Thank you to all our colleagues for the amazing work you do! Without you, graduate students DON'T get degrees, papers DON'T get published, grants DON'T get funded, and PIs DON'T get tenure. Let’s hope @LoyolaChicago come to their senses and pay us a fair wage!
It’s been 7 days since our letter to @LoyolaChicago‘s president went public. We are advocating for fair and competitive pay for all Loyola’s postdocs. PIs are discussing it, but we’ve yet to hear from the administration. We’re waiting, and the scientific community is watching!
We, the Loyola University Chicago postdocs, call for an urgent raise in compensation. We addressed this open letter to President Reed on May 22nd: https://t.co/fnKzxCSmub 1/10
There are some big profile strikes happening right now (exciting!), but don’t forget the smaller schools like @UPI4100atGSU and other Illinois state school systems going out Tuesday or who are already on strike! Give them a follow to keep up with strike action across the country
BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: Fordham has accepted our last proposal in full, which means we have a tentative agreement (TA). Tomorrow's rally is CANCELED. Members, please watch your email in the coming days for info about the full text of the TA and the ratification vote.
Tenured and tenure track faculty from another department (Art History and Music) has sent @TetlowTania and the Provost a letter expressing support for our demands, bringing our total to letters from 10 departments! https://t.co/SH7DxA4BUj
FFU members! Even if you've already voted in the Strike Authorization Vote (remember, this is DIFFERENT from signing the strike petition), now is a great time to talk to your coworkers about it!! It's important that they vote...
