I agree with many of these observations. At this stage, AI is very useful in legal tasks that used to require a form book. When you get to the higher level analysis it will speak with great confidence, but will often be wrong.

I have toyed with it by asking it to prepare cross examination outlines and it makes suggestions that would quickly blow up in your face at trial. So at least for now, AI is nowhere near replacing criminal defense lawyers. It is, however, more than welcome to take over the task of talking to face tattooed Lil’ Pookie in the jail about why the “stamp looking weird” on the indictment is not in fact grounds for a dismissal.

Top lawyers are a far more.elite group than neurosurgeons. The difference is that the selection is less legible and more gradual. The 170 lsat (call it top 3% of college grads) is just the start of a 20 year-long process that screens out the vast majority of the remainder.
