Raise your hand if you’re getting tired of governance reduced to tsismis. Unfortunately, there is a growing habit among government officials of publicly confessing knowledge of criminal acts, from bribery to coercion, while withholding the very details required to file charges. The story circulates, but the wheels of justice do not move. Unless clout-chasing is the point?
In case it isn’t clear— refusing a bribe is the minimum expectation of public office, not a moral achievement to be broadcast. The public is asked to admire supposed virtue, while the system quietly avoids accountability. At that level of government, discretion is not optional. Either an allegation is serious enough to activate the justice system or it should not be aired as a public anecdote at all. Anything in between does not signal integrity. It undermines trust in the very fight against corruption it claims to advance.
Americans act like saying “Allahu Akbar” is the worst crime on earth and then be quoting their own bible verses while doing war crimes 💀 fucking hilarious
