Voices from the Past: This is Philip Rahtz' lighthearted review on one of the best British Excavation 'manuals' of the 1970s, written by the excavator of Wroxeter and Esewhere in Shropshire. Enjoy the 'wisdom of the ages' . LOL. #archaeology.
Not turning the down the gift of a sunny spring afternoon to go for a rural ramble. It was while doing so, that I was suddenly struck by one of those thoughts you sometimes get.
You KNOW the type I'm talking about...
Brilliant to get back to a childhood Sunday eve tradition... @thetimeteam!
Love the new episode - great archaeology, community involvement, and throwing the kitchen sink of techniques
(Cheeky TimeTeam pints @lawrence_shaw and @derekpitman, hope you got to keep the glasses)
🧵 As a teenager there were two things that helped shaped my career, the first was an AS in Archaeology at college, something that is no longer available. The second was @thetimeteam. The accessible and engaging nature of the show has had huge influence on me.
@Dr_Marcus_Lake@lawrence_shaw@thetimeteam You mean Prof Carenza Lewis, the highly respected academic with an extensive field archaeology career and publication record? 'Leftie luvvy rubbish' or just misogyny on your part?
Beautiful day, fantastic landscape, great company. Good to be out in the field with @edpev7 & @ChilternsAONB BOTP project on @TheRidgeway1972 - looking north from the ‘cross-ridge’ dykes on Steps Hill towards Ivinghoe Beacon; & west to Aylesbury Vale.
Hardknott #Roman fort, Cumbria in its amazing mountain location between Ambleside and Ravenglass.
Possibly 'Mediobogdum', Parade ground above. Revisited for #RomanFortThursday#Lidar (Better on a big screen)
Possible 🙄 #30DayMapChallenge - Day 11 - 3D. #Rayshader
Excited @RiverThameCT in flood so early this autumn/winter 🤞 another cracking winter birding the River. Early morning walk (more like wade) around Ickford - Wigeon, Teal, Gadwall, Lapwing, Snipe all back. Also looks like my wellies sprung a leak over the summer 🤣😲🤫@WeBS_UK
Some great news from @HistoricEngland - results of aerial mapping (NMP/AI&M) projects now online in a web map. A brilliant resource! #Archaeology
