I’m curious: Did you try it with zstd? I chose an Elixir implementation at random. Noticeable speed up, but worse performance on my data set.
@codestirring@elixirlang One of things I most appreciate about Elixir is its flexibility. Maybe implement a new language in Elixir? For example, miniKanren is always a fun challenge, and a great introduction to logic programming.
@remilouf Great question. I’m not writing Python these days, but when I was, I went several years without writing a class, other than for custom exceptions. Mostly functional Python is possible and, I think, so beneficial.
Two of the hardest things about cognitively demanding work are:
1) You can’t really make it go faster. There are tricks to getting unstuck but it usually proceeds very nonlinearly.
2) It often looks like it could have been done in a far shorter amount of time when it’s over.
