@educationgovuk@EducateAgainst I get the importance, but… teachers already carry so much on their shoulders. How many societal issues can they realistically be expected to manage on top of everything else?
@PaulGarvey4 That’s the frustrating part, there can be constructive visits, genuine dialogue, and space to improve without the axe of academisation hanging overhead. Now? It’s surveillance with academy chain CEOs cashing in, and frontline staff fight for scraps. Is this the best for pupils???
@MattSPeet Teachers care deeply about their pupils, but they are there to educate, not to take on every aspect of care. Schools already carry so many responsibilities beyond teaching. This feels like another step too far… at what point do we say enough?
@Headteacherchat It makes sense that those evaluating schools should have real leadership experience. Two years as a headteacher would help, but would it be enough? Understanding the pressures of the role takes time. Going through an inspection or two themselves should also be part of this.
@SAPERE_P4C This looks fantastic! ‘How should we treat animals?’ is such a great way to spark meaningful discussions about ethics, responsibility, and conservation. A brilliant #P4C resource for #WorldWildlifeDay!
@AnnaFazack1 Such an important point. Language difficulties are so often at the root of behaviour challenges, yet they’re still overlooked in many schools. Great to see proactive approaches like this making a real difference!
@MathsladyScott Love this! Sometimes the best solutions come from the most unexpected places. Being open to student ideas not only improves outcomes but also builds a culture where everyone feels valued.
@Thinkingschool2@OonaghKelleher Completely agree—respect breeds respect. A calm, consistent approach doesn’t just improve behaviour; it builds trust and a positive culture.
@MathsladyScott Absolutely! The best teams don’t just add up their strengths—they amplify them. A mix of perspectives, creativity, and challenge can push a school forward in ways no single leader could. What’s one ‘outside the box’ idea that’s worked for you?
@PaulGarvey4 Completely agree. When accountability becomes about data over development, we end up with compliance-driven schools instead of learning-focused ones. If we removed these, what’s the best way to ensure high standards without fear?
@Headteacherchat Absolutely—shared vision is key, but so is healthy challenge. A strong team isn’t just like-minded; it’s one that brings different perspectives while working toward the same goal. How do you strike that balance in leadership?
@ICTEvangelist Week 3 on #UDL is a must-watch for me! So much untapped potential in using EdTech to improve accessibility—keen to see your take. Looking forward to this series! #EdTech#AssistiveTech
Great point! #EdTech can help here too—AI-powered quizzes, real-time polling, and adaptive platforms can surface misconceptions early. But tech alone isn’t enough—it’s how we respond that matters. What’s your go-to method for tackling misconceptions? #EvidenceInformed
Misconception banks by Kate Jones
"It is important for teachers to be aware of misconceptions when planning and designing lessons but also to be responsive when misconception arise."
How do you deal with misconceptions?

I wonder what are the latest reinventions people have come across? Having been in schools for over a quarter of a century… there are far to many to count!
Something that I find amusing about education is how the same stuff gets reinvented with a new (usually fancier) name. Not sure why we do this to ourselves. 🤷♀️
