We had a phenomenal experience with the #Empowerher conference @equity_DDSB. I can hardly describe the Black excellence that filled the room with educators and students. student voice illuminated the walls of @DDSBSchools not to mention the black joy of all the young girls…
My made heart so happy today to see this artwork installed @SherwoodPS Thank you to @edu_danielle@TL_MrsP for collaborating to make this happen!!!! Made me even happier to hear that students brought their whole classes to see it! @equity_DDSB@DDSBLibraries
Looking forward to the finished pieces and just being able to witness how proud these students are of their work. When we listen to student voices, they build such a trust and develop a stronger sense of belonging and sense of self. So proud!!
Artwork in progress @SherwoodPS as we construct ideas of identity and culture through writing and visual arts @equity_DDSB @DDSBLibraries inspired by work by South African collage artist Khehla Chepape Makgato @edu_danielle @TL_MrsP
Students were given space to explore culture and identity through writing and visual arts @SherwoodPS @equity_DDSB Blown away by the genius that emerges when we center human rights and equity in all that we do @edu_danielle @TL_MrsP
The creativity flowing yesterday was unmatched, not to mention the conversations that were being held by the students. They are truly our greatest teachers.
As educators we are exploring connections between anti-oppression, expression, creativity, thriving and visual arts with students @SherwoodPS @edu_danielle @TL_MrsP AMAZED by the genius of these students @equity_DDSB @DDSBLibraries
It’s been such a pleasure being in this space with our learners. We learn so much from them when they are able to share their choice and voice amongst their peers.
@SherwoodPS Looking at identity and culture as we construct an identity iceberg and build cultural awareness and critical consciousness @TL_MrsP @edu_danielle An anti oppressive arts workshop for students @equity_DDSB @DDSBLibraries
