ONSA-COORDINATED JOINT SECURITY OPERATION RESCUES 308 KIDNAP VICTIMS IN KWARA, NIGER
In one of the largest coordinated hostage rescue operations in recent months, a joint security mission coordinated by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has rescued 308 kidnapped victims from captivity in Kwara and Niger states, marking another significant breakthrough in Nigeria’s fight against organized kidnapping.
Security sources told TheRadarNewsNG that the operation, carried out on Wednesday, involved personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) under ONSA, the Nigeria Police Force, and other security agencies.
According to the sources, the intelligence-driven operation led to the safe rescue of all 308 abducted persons, making it one of the country’s most successful mass hostage recovery missions in recent times.
A breakdown of the rescued victims showed that 163 persons were freed after being abducted from Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, while another 145 victims were rescued during coordinated security operations in Niger State.
Security officials said the near-simultaneous operations were the result of extensive intelligence gathering, meticulous inter-agency planning, and synchronized execution designed to prevent the kidnappers from relocating their captives or escaping security pressure.
While operational details remain restricted for security reasons, sources said the mission followed sustained intelligence-led surveillance and close collaboration among the participating security agencies under a unified command structure coordinated by ONSA.
The operation underscores Nigeria’s increasing reliance on intelligence fusion and joint operational planning to tackle kidnapping syndicates that exploit forest corridors and state boundaries across the North-Central region.
The rescued victims have since been evacuated to the Military Medical Facility at Wawa Cantonment in New Bussa Local Government Area of Niger State, where they are undergoing medical examinations, treatment, and receiving immediate humanitarian assistance.
Medical personnel are conducting comprehensive health assessments on the victims, many of whom endured prolonged periods in captivity under harsh conditions. Security officials also confirmed that documentation, debriefing, and arrangements for their safe reunification with their families are underway following the completion of medical and security procedures.
The successful rescue further demonstrates the growing synergy among Nigeria’s military, intelligence, and law enforcement agencies in combating kidnapping, terrorism, and other forms of organized violent crime.
Security sources described the mission as the outcome of sustained coordination rather than a single tactical operation, emphasizing that intelligence collection, operational planning, and synchronized deployment were instrumental in securing the victims’ release without any reported loss of life among those rescued.
Officials added that intelligence obtained during the operation is expected to support follow-up missions aimed at identifying, tracking, and dismantling the criminal networks responsible for the mass abductions, while strengthening ongoing efforts to improve national security through enhanced inter-agency cooperation.

This is how citizens engagement should be like.

To everyone who has supported, prayed for, shared my posts, or donated during this difficult time, I feel I owe you an honest update.
Over the past few days, information has come to light that has left me and my family shocked, confused, hurt, and struggling to process everything. There is currently an investigation involving my mother, and as more details have emerged, it has become clear that neither I nor any other members of my family were involved in, aware of, or connected to any actions that may have taken place.
I want to be very clear: my family and I did not participate in, plan, encourage, or benefit from any of this. Like many of you, we believed we were dealing with a genuine emergency and acted based on the information we had at the time. We were worried, emotionally distressed, and doing everything we could to help someone we love.
This situation has been heartbreaking for us. Not only have we had to deal with the emotional impact of everything that has happened, but we have also had to face public scrutiny, accusations, and judgment for something we had absolutely no involvement in. While we understand that people are upset and have questions, we kindly ask that innocent family members not be blamed for actions that were not theirs.
To everyone who donated or offered financial support, I sincerely apologize for the situation and any distress it may have caused. Your generosity came from a place of kindness and compassion, and I will never take that for granted. We are committed to ensuring that all funds received are refunded.
I know many people feel disappointed, hurt, or misled, and those feelings are completely understandable. All I ask is that you remember that the rest of the family is also trying to come to terms with everything and understand the full picture ourselves.
Thank you to those who have continued to show understanding, kindness, and respect despite the circumstances. We appreciate your patience as the investigation continues and the facts are fully established.
Thank you.
