Before schools can re-open:
1. Masks, sanitizer & disinfectant must be provided.
2. Each school must have a Covid19 healthworker on standby.
3. Each school must have running water.
4. Class sizes must be reduced.
5. More teachers must be assigned to each school.

Education means...
Heavy check markless poverty
Heavy check markbetter health
Heavy check marka future of their choice
#EDUCATION is the Key to a better life, for these 2 & all children.
43 years ago, black school kids in Soweto challenged a school system that forced them to learn in the language of their oppressor. Many were killed. Thousands were injured. Time may pass, but we will never forget those brave young souls. #SowetoUprising

@education_mdc@advocatemahere@MoPSEZim In Gwanda we have schools with no running water . For example Insindi Secondary in the Dombashoko area . How do they expect people to observe hygiene in such an area
We stand in full solidarity with teachers who have taken the position that Zimbabwean schools are not ready for June examinations. There aren't sufficient health precautions in place. Students are unprepared. Teachers lack motivation. Not enough consultation has taken place.
Dear @MoPSEZim
Teachers are asking:
1. Will I be safe if schools reopen?
2. Are books safe to mark?
3. Do I get free healthcare if I get Covid19 at work?
4. Can I teach 6 lessons of 35 mins in a mask?
5. Will I get a risk allowance?
6. Is 40USD worth it?
We need this sort of messages from our political leadership. #Africa must not be defined by colonial borders or the colonial narrative.

Thank you.

The @UniversityOfZim will re-open on the 1st of June 2020. Classes will be conducted via e-learning.
Many students learnt the prohibitive cost of data that will limit their ability to access education. This aspect has been ignored by the authorities.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Ms Tumisang Thabela, says 2020 June exams will start on 29 June & end on the 22nd of July under strict guidelines from the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
A simple declaration that schools have to open for exam classes without providing the necessary support is inadequate. Who is going to provide PPEs for teachers and learners? How are schools going to secure disinfectants and sanitisers among others? Parents cant bear the burden.
@nickmangwana has advised that individual schools will, just like private companies, decide on how and when they will safely open schools. Gvt is abdicating from responsibility. The rich will open their schools and the poor will remain closed. A gvt fueling inequality!
The brutality against Moreblessing Nyambara @ARTUZ_teachers organisers during the time we are demanding justice for @JoanaMamombe, @ceechimbiri2 and @MarovaNetsai shows the state is not relenting on its repression.
We have no choice than to unite and resist collectively.
