I think much of political animosity (among those who are rabid about it) stems from a ridiculous belief that if we just elect the right people, government will make life wonderful for everyone. When that doesn't happen it must be the fault of the evil other party.

I've seen politics tear friends and family apart and I don't want any part of that.
I have my thoughts and opinions on world events and I invest, vote and position myself accordingly.
I don't carry water for any politician, party or movement.
My relationships with friends and family are priority one.
Having a good day priority two.
Making money priority three (it helps that it's actually fun to me, even though I sometimes get it wrong).
I have many friends and family that hate the people I vote for and I don't think much of the people they vote for.
I don't take it out on them and they don't take it out on me.
We generally just focus on enjoying each other's company and put anything that might prevent that aside.

Remember during this election season, don't be f'ing idiot.
