The education sector could generate a massive signal for climate action. There are 75,000 education sector organizations in the US. But, while many state/national education organizations have spoken up for climate action (8 in the last year alone), a few big ones are deliberately
@ThomasKemmett It’s basic civic emergency preparedness for when an area or municipality is going to suddenly have an enormous temporary influx of population.
@TeachMrReed Caring feels dangerous because we all feel so powerless to make changes against the enormous problems facing this world. Ecological overshoot is scary. We’re not being honest with ourselves about it and we’re certainly not being honest with young people either. They smell it.

In aggregate, this global 'metabolism' -riding the upslope of the carbon pulse- generates growth, plus waste. It has no braking system. It reacts but has no plan.
