BATSIRANA – Zimbabwe Helping Zimbabwe
We may not have the wealth of individuals like Wicknell, but together, as the people of Zimbabwe, we have far greater power. The strength of millions of ordinary citizens is bigger than the wealth of any one person.
Today, many artists, influencers, and public figures receive cars, money, and gifts in exchange for publicly supporting those in power or remaining silent about what is happening in the country. Whether that’s true in every case or not, many young people have come to believe that the only way to succeed is to praise politicians instead of earning support from the people.
What if we changed that?
The Vision
BATSIRANA is a Zimbabwean version of GoFundMe, built for Zimbabweans.
Every month, the platform will feature individuals who have genuinely made a positive impact in their communities. Zimbabweans will be able to donate directly using EcoCash, InnBucks, and other local payment methods—even if it’s just 20 cents.
One person may only have $1 to give, and alone it may not seem like much. But when thousands of Zimbabweans each contribute their little, together we can change someone’s life.
Our goal is simple:
From the citizens. For the citizens.
To Our Artists and Influencers
It is better to receive a gift from thousands of people who gave from the heart than from one person whose gift comes with expectations.
When the people reward you, your success belongs to the people.
We want artists and influencers to know they don’t have to sell their voices, principles, or independence just to receive a car or financial assistance. Zimbabweans can take care of their own.
Who Can Be Nominated?
The platform will constantly update with stories of deserving Zimbabweans.
These could include:
Artists and influencers making a genuine positive impact.
Community leaders changing lives.
Teachers going above and beyond.
Ordinary Zimbabweans quietly helping others without asking for anything in return.
People across Zimbabwe will be able to recommend deserving individuals, vote for them, and contribute towards meaningful rewards such as cars, houses, business capital, school fees, or other forms of assistance.
A Real Example
Sometimes we read headlines about a poor teacher in Harare who has been forced to cook on the streets just to survive.
Instead of that teacher feeling they must beg politicians or the government for help, Zimbabweans can read the story, verify it, and decide whether it deserves support.
If the community agrees, thousands of citizens can each contribute a little and together build that teacher a better future.
That is the power of BATSIRANA.
Why This Matters
Many young Zimbabweans now believe the only way to receive a car or financial support is to speak against the majority of citizens or praise those in power.
Let’s prove that the real power has always belonged to the people.
Let’s show that doing good for your community is enough.
Let’s show our artists they never have to beg.
Let’s show every Zimbabwean that there is dignity in being supported by fellow citizens.
One step at a time.
Today, our goal is simple:
200 reposts (retweets).
From there we build our website.
Then we register it as a non-profit or NGO, allowing donations to be managed transparently and distributed to deserving recipients.
Every nomination, every vote, every dollar, and every handover will be visible for the public to see.
This platform is not political.
It belongs to Zimbabweans who believe citizens should uplift one another.
Why BATSIRANA?
Sometimes you want to help, but your $1 feels too small to make a difference.
With BATSIRANA, your $1 joins another thousand people’s $1.
Together, those small contributions become a car.
A house.
School fees.
Medical bills.
A new beginning.
We are Zimbabwe.
Our citizens should never feel they have to beg for help when fellow Zimbabweans are willing to stand together.
