Just watched The Odyssey in a 2000 year old Roman arena in Pula, Croatia, built during the reign of Augustus. Unbelievable film and even better location
@N64_Gamer_@RussLarson @Avonleebythesea @politicalmath As a first time reader I really loved a new translation of The Odyssey by Daniel Mendelsohn. Poetic, easy to read, and by all accounts faithful to the text. I then read The Iliad translated by Robert Fagles. It was great but I kinda wish Mendelsohn had also translated the Iliad
I’ve just finished The Complete Works of Shakespeare.
I don’t usually post on X but as I read each play I wrote down a quick synopsis and quotes that I like. I figured I would put it up on here so that if I lose my phone I’ll still have a record.

Addendum:
The Poems and The Sonnets
I didn’t write notes the same on the Poems and The Sonnets. I found the Rape of Lucrece hard as it begins with the rapist wrestling with his conscience as he approaches Lucrece’s bedroom. You know what’s coming and the tension builds.
