Atom Pariya Interview
Part 2
Euro: Now that the series has been released, you've had the chance to attend events with Faye. Everywhere you go, all eyes are on the two of you. Every moment, everyone's watching. Were you nervous?
Atom: I think I was born with the word "nervous." (laughs)
At first, I was incredibly nervous. I even put a lot of pressure on myself because I wanted to do everything well.
I didn't know what everyone expected from me, so I wanted to meet every expectation. Sometimes, I ended up putting too much pressure on myself.
But when I finally met the fans in person...
I was honestly shocked. They welcomed me so warmly, far beyond anything I had imagined.
All of my fears and worries simply melted away.
The energy they gave me made me feel like I was surrounded by friends, Phi, Nong, and family.
After that, everything just flowed naturally.
Everything became easier. I felt completely at ease.
Euro: How would you describe your partner?
Atom: P'Faye...
She's actually a really funny person.
Before I met her, I imagined she'd be quiet, cool, and incredibly smart.
Then I met her in real life...
She's hilarious. I don't think she even realizes how funny she is.
Euro: If you knew she was that funny, then you wouldn't have to be scared of her.
(Both laughs.)
Atom: Every morning while we're getting our makeup done together, P'Faye always turns on music and makes me dance with her to boost our energy.
(She suddenly turns around and looks behind her.)
I'm getting paranoid...
Euro: Not yet. Not yet.
Atom: She's funny in a way that's hard to explain.
It's the way she talks...
The things she says...
When it comes to work, though, she's incredibly talented.
Her fans love her so much, and she truly deserves it because she works incredibly hard. Being both an actress and a CEO is a huge responsibility.
I honestly think it's an incredibly heavy workload.
Yet she handles both roles so well.
I really hope she's proud of herself.
Euro: Speaking of fans...
After starring alongside P'Faye, the series became hugely popular. You've met fans from many different countries and attended fan meetings overseas.
Were you excited? What was it like leaving Thailand for your very first international event?
Atom: Excited?
Very, very excited.
I had no idea what I was going to experience.
Everything was completely new to me. I'm still very new to all of this.
So I just decided to go for it.
The people around me encouraged me so much, including P'Faye, who was always cheering me on.
Then I finally met the fans...
It was so much fun.
Even though I only recently started traveling overseas, I've already visited several countries, and there are still many more to come.
Meeting our international fans has been such an amazing experience.
Their energy is unbelievable.
From morning until evening, they never stopped cheering for us. Sometimes I even worried they'd lose their voices! I wondered if they were comfortable standing there all day.
They welcomed me so warmly everywhere we went.
Every country also prepared something special for us.
They performed dances and songs for us. Each country had its own unique culture to share.
The food support was incredible, too.
"Phi, you have to try this!"
"Nong, please eat this!"
The performances were amazing.
There was singing.
There was dancing.
Everything was just so much fun.
Euro: Could you say hello to your international fans? You have so many of them... Maybe it'll help my interview get more views.
(Atom laughs.)
Atom: You just said your true intentions out loud!
Euro: Please say hi to your international fans.
Atom: Ok. I'd like to say hello to both my Thai fans and my international fans.
To all my Thai fans, thank you so much for supporting P'Faye and me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Please remember to get plenty of rest and sleep well while waiting until we meet again.
Every message...
Every word of encouragement...
Every bit of support...
I truly see it all.
And I hope we can continue growing together, just like this.
(Atom then greets her international fans in English.)
Euro: Thank you.
Atom: Thank you.
Euro: And thank you to all the FayeAtom fans. This show can only survive if people keep watching!
(Both laugh.)
Euro: I've always wondered...
Why do fans call you "Atuam" instead of "Atom" on YouTube?
(In Thai, Atom spells her nickname playfully as "อะตวม" instead of "อะตอม.")
(Atom makes a gesture.)
(Euro imitates her expression.)
Atom: Well... Here's what happened.
Back when I was in high school, I was livestreaming and chatting with my fans.
Some of my international fans tried to type my name in Thai. Of course, Thai can be pretty difficult if it's not your native language...
But they really tried.
Euro: They accidentally mixed up the Thai letters "อ" and "ว" because they look similar.
So instead of typing "อะตอม" (Atom), they typed "อะตวม" (Atuam).
Atom: I thought it was adorable. So I decided to keep it as my AKA.
Euro: So now you're... AKA Atuam! Yo!
Atom: (Laughs)
You really do just keep going, don't you?
Atom: But there's another nickname too.
"Tuam." (pronounced with a falling tone)
P'Faye was actually the one who came up with that.
Euro: So... is it Atuam or Tuam?
Atom: Both.
"Atuam" came from my international fans.
Then "Tuam" was the nickname P'Faye gave me.
So now I have both.
💡You can hear Atom's pronunciation of "Tuam" at 30:00 in the interview.
Euro: Wow... You've got quite a collection of nicknames.
Atom: There's... Atom... Atuam... Tuam... so on
(Both laugh.)
Euro: Has anyone ever met you in person and said,
"You're nothing as I imagined."
Atom: Yes...
Quite a lot of people.
When they first see me, they assume I'm someone who can't really take care of myself.
Like someone who's a little slow and always needs looking after. But in reality...
I'm usually the one taking care of other people.
I'm also very down-to-earth. I'm easygoing. I'm not picky about food. I'm happy to go anywhere. I'm always ready for an adventure.
And I'm actually quite straightforward.
People see my face and immediately think,
"Aww... she's such a Nong~."
But honestly...
Sometimes I can be the P' too.
I can look after other people.
That's probably the biggest misconception people have about me.
Euro: Let me ask you something a little more serious.
If you had to choose...
Would you rather be someone everyone likes...
Or simply be yourself?
Atom: Of course, I'd love it if people liked me. (Laughs)
Euro: Even if they like you because you're simply being yourself?
Atom: In the end... I'd choose to be myself.
Being yourself means being honest with yourself.
It also means being sincere with the people around you.
This is who I am. I'd rather be genuine than pretend to be someone else.
Euro: You studied Film and Digital Media. When you started working in the industry, what surprised you the most compared to what you learned in school?
Atom: I did study Film...
But most of my classes focused on behind-the-scenes work.
Going onto film sets...
Acting coaching...
Things like that.
We didn't spend much time in front of the camera. There were acting classes, of course...
But my program emphasized production and behind-the-scenes work. When I finally stepped onto a real film set... It was completely different.
Still, the experience I gained in school helped me understand how everything works.
I already understood the workflow on set.
So adapting to real productions became much easier.
As for acting...
I learned so much from my seniors and directors.
They constantly guided me and showed me what worked and what didn't.
Learning from real experience has been invaluable.
Euro: Did you study directing as well?
Atom: Not exactly.
I focused more on acting coaching because I chose the acting major. Our program offered several tracks: production, design, and acting, and I chose acting.
Euro: Being an acting coach sounds difficult.
You have to guide other actors.
Atom: You have to understand the script first.
Only then can you explain the situation, what the character is feeling, and how they should portray those emotions.
I need to understand where the emotional climax is before I can guide someone else.
A lot of what I know comes from my experiences on film sets while I was still in university.
Euro: If someone gave you the chance to direct your own project today... Let's say a thirty-minute short film... What kind of story would you make?
Atom: A thirty-minute film? Hmm...
If I ever got the chance to direct something...
I'd want to make...
Euro: Maybe the Fabel team is watching this. They might hear your idea and make it happen for their beloved Nong.
Atom: What if it flops? (Laughs)
Euro: Planning to spend too much money?
Atom: What if it really flops?
Okay... I'd probably make a romantic comedy.
Something light-hearted that makes people smile.
Or maybe...
A Thai moral drama (ละครคุณธรรม)
Euro: Wow. That escalated quickly!
Atom: I actually love those moral dramas! They're strangely addictive.
Euro: I used to be addicted too... I've recovered now.
(Both laugh.)
Euro: One last question. I promise I won't keep you much longer.
Atom: I don't believe you.
(Both laugh.)
Euro: When people remember you in the future...
Would you rather they remember you as someone who's always cheerful...
Or as someone who's incredibly talented?
Atom: Honestly...
I don't want people to remember me because of just one quality. I want them to remember me...
For simply being me.
I don't want to be remembered only as the cheerful girl...
Or only as someone who's talented.
Because one day...
I might not be at my best.
Maybe one day I won't be as cheerful.
Life has its ups and downs.
But one thing I hope never changes...
Is that I can continue encouraging people.
I want to keep being a source of positive energy.
No matter what happens in my own life...
I'll keep smiling for everyone.
Euro: But... You don't have to smile all the time.
Atom: Then...
I guess I won't smile anymore.
(Both burst into laughter.)
Euro: Please tell everyone about your upcoming projects.
Atom: Right now, we're holding fan meetings and traveling to meet fans in different countries.
There are also exciting new projects coming next year, so please stay tuned.
And if you miss us...
You can always watch Broken of Love on YouTube.
Euro: Do you think your CEO might write a song just for you someday? You used to be a singer, after all.
Atom: I did sing one of the songs for the series.
Euro: No, no. I mean your own song. Not an OST. A song that's completely yours. Artist Atom, could it be Peraya?
Atom: You'll just have to wait and see.
Euro: A solo song. You're singing. You're dancing. All by yourself.
Atom: Will you dance with me?
Euro: No way. You'll get all the views instead of me.
(Both laugh.)
Euro: Thank you so much, Atom. I'm cheering for you. I know you've been working incredibly hard. There are busy days...
And tiring days...
But in the end, seeing your fans smile makes it all worthwhile.
Atom: Thank you, Phi, too.

Interview with Atom Pariya
PART 1
(Starts at 0:36)
Euro: Hello everyone! Today I'm with someone who has the brightest smile, a truly distinctive singing voice, and someone who's making her dreams come true. Please welcome Atom Pariya.
Euro: Sawasdee krub!
Atom: Sawasdee ka, P'Euro.
Euro: Is this your first time doing an interview with microphones like this?
Atom: It actually is! It's my very first time, and I'm really nervous.
Euro: Are you a talkative person?
Atom: Honestly, I don't think I am. I'm kind of an introvert.
Euro: So... you like talking to yourself?
Atom: (Laughs) I enjoy having my own little world.
Most people think I'm cheerful and talkative because I'm always smiling. Smiling helps me relax. I don't like tense situations, so I just smile naturally. But personality-wise, I'm actually someone who enjoys keeping to myself.
Euro: What do you usually do when you're by yourself?
Atom: Stay home and do absolutely nothing. Sleep. When I have free time, I just lie in bed and scroll through my phone.
Euro: Maybe you just like getting out of the house because your cheerful energy makes other people happy.
Atom: I don't like quiet, awkward atmospheres. But at the same time, I don't really like talking that much either. Honestly... I confuse myself.
Euro: I'm already 30, and I still don't know who I really am. You're 23, right?
Atom: I'm 24, this year 25.
Euro: So who is Atom Pariya, really?
Atom: Hmm... if you ask people, they'd probably say I'm someone who's always smiling and full of positive energy. That's definitely a part of who I am.
I don't like tense or gloomy environments. If I can make everyone smile, everything just flows more naturally.
But on the other hand... I'm actually an introvert. I enjoy spending time alone and doing things by myself.
Euro: You like being alone... but who do you like? (making a Thai wordplay joke)
💡It's a Thai pun. The phrase "ชอบอยู่คนเดียว" normally means "I like being alone," but it can also be jokingly interpreted as "I like someone".
Atom: Are you trying to set me up with that question? (laughs) Oh! You even made the pillow fall!
I like being alone. I like watching series, finding delicious food, and living a simple life.
But honestly, I have two sides. Sometimes I want to go out, meet friends, socialize, and work. Other times, I just want to stay with myself. Sometimes I heal myself simply by being alone. It really depends on my mood.
Euro: Deep down, you're an introvert, but whenever you go outside, you bring this positive energy. Where does that positivity come from?
Atom: From the people around me.
I'm very close to my family. Whenever something happens, I always talk to my parents. They're a huge source of positive energy for me.
My friends, my seniors, and my juniors too. Whenever I have a tough day, just going out for a meal with them recharges me.
And my fans, they're incredibly important.
Sometimes I just open an app and see what they've posted for me. Funny memes, "Happy Monday" or "Happy Tuesday" pictures... little things like that brighten my day so easily.
Euro: Growing up, were you more of a good student, an activities person, or an athlete?
Atom: Definitely not sports.
Most of my memorable school life was during high school because university was mostly online.
Euro: Because of COVID?
Atom: Exactly. I hardly got to meet friends or join university activities.
Back in high school, though, I was involved in everything.
I sang, danced, performed traditional dance, was a cheerleader, acted in stage plays, which I absolutely loved, and basically lived in the activities department with the teachers.
Euro: So you've loved performing since you were little?
Atom: Yes.
When I was a kid, I changed my dream job all the time. I wanted to be everything.
But the two things that never changed were singing and acting.
Euro: Why?
Atom: I don't really know...
I just always wanted to do it.
I loved watching movies and acting.
When I was little, I didn't really have many friends...
Euro: So you pretended to be sick to skip school? (teasing)
Atom: (Laughs) I did use that trick pretty often.
Euro: And your parents believed you every time?
Atom: (Laughs) Not exactly.
But I did love acting together with my mom.
Euro: Did your school already have drama activities back then?
Atom: Yes.
Our school puts on a stage play every year and holds auditions every year.
I auditioned every single time I had the chance.
Academically, I wasn't naturally gifted, but I studied really hard because I wanted good grades.
I attended extra tutoring classes and pushed myself, and in the end, I achieved the grades I was aiming for.
Euro: A perfect 4.0?
Atom: 3.8.
Euro: That's still amazing. You were acting, singing, doing activities... I studied like crazy and only got 2.35.
Atom: (Laughs) It wasn't easy to earn that 3.8 either.
Euro: What did you do to make your dream come true?
Atom: It all started with posting song covers on YouTube.
That's how people first got to know me.
My mom took me to singing lessons in Chiang Mai.
We found a school I really liked, and I started learning there.
Back then, I was extremely shy. I wasn't confident enough to sing, so I wanted to gain experience.
My teacher would record videos of the students' performances as part of the school's portfolio for parents to watch.
Euro: So you were just recording videos for your teacher?
Atom: Exactly.
It was pretty embarrassing because I had only just started singing in high school.
I simply recorded it...
Then one of those videos suddenly went viral.
Euro: Was it a Thai song or an international song?
Atom: A Thai song.
Euro: How many takes did the viral video take?
Atom: Just one.
The teacher only intended to upload it to the school's page.
Euro: So it wasn't meant to show off, just for school.
Atom: Exactly.
The school uploaded videos of every student so their parents could watch.
That was all.
But somehow people started watching mine.
So I kept singing, and eventually I created my own YouTube channel.
Euro: If you could go back, would you do anything differently with that video?
Atom: Honestly...
I don't remember much because I was so nervous and embarrassed.
I'd probably do it exactly the same way...
Maybe I'd just sing a little better.
Euro: How old were you?
Atom: Around fifteen or sixteen.
I was so young.
When I look back at myself then, I don't even look like the same person anymore.
Euro: Because you've grown up.
Atom: Exactly.
After that, I started my own YouTube channel.
Instead of recording with just a microphone, I began recording in studios and started taking on influencer work.
Euro: Product reviews?
Atom: Yes.
That was really the beginning of everything.
I'm very proud of it.
It all happened by chance.
One day, my parents and I happened to be in Bangkok, so I decided to give things a try.
Euro: Had you auditioned before?
Atom: Not really, not as an artist.
I was too nervous and didn't think I could do it.
I literally started from zero.
I could sing simple cover songs.
I'd never danced before; in fact, I was probably below zero.
I couldn't rap either.
Euro: So tell us about your first audition. It was for an idol group, so you had to sing and dance. How long did you prepare?
Atom: I trained for quite a while.
I don't remember exactly how long, but I took dance lessons because I'd never danced before, and I knew I'd need that skill.
Then... I got accepted.
I was honestly shocked because I wasn't confident in myself.
Once I got in, I wanted to give it everything I had.
I trained as a trainee first.
We practiced singing, dancing, everything.
Eventually, I became a member of VIIS.
Euro: If people complimented you, would you rather hear "You're beautiful" or "You're an amazing singer"?
Atom: I'm actually a very sensitive person.
When people tell me I'm talented, I get embarrassed because I never feel like I'm good enough.
I always think I still have so much room to improve.
So compliments about my abilities make me shy.
But if someone says I'm a great singer...
That makes me really happy.
And if I sing well, I feel like I'll naturally look prettier too.
Euro: What was life like as an idol?
Atom: I was incredibly happy.
Being part of a girl group and becoming an idol were among my dreams.
I grew so much, and those skills still stay with me today.
I also met the sweetest fans who came to support us in front of the stage with their light sticks.
And honestly...
Our fans took the most beautiful fancams.
It was such a wonderful chapter of my life.
We never had time to stand still because we were constantly preparing for performances.
That's why we became so close.
I really miss those days.
Euro: Was there ever a sentence that made you realize you didn't have to be strong all the time?
Atom: Yes.
One day, I went out to eat with some seniors and friends.
After dinner, one of my seniors walked up to me and asked,
"Are you okay? You don't have to smile all the time. If you're not okay, you don't have to force yourself."
I burst into tears.
No one had ever said something like that to me before.
People only ever saw me smiling.
Euro: Just like we talked about earlier, you always wanted everyone around you to feel happy.
Atom: Exactly.
Very few people actually know what's going on inside me.
Some days it's okay for me to be weak too.
That's why those words touched my heart so deeply.
Euro: From being an idol to becoming an actress, how did you end up joining Fabel Entertainment?
Atom: Someone I knew in the industry contacted me and suggested I audition.
So I went for the casting...
And I got the role. I was so happy. At first, I had no idea that I was going to be paired with Faye.
Euro: Right, because you were auditioning for the series.
Atom: Exactly.
Euro: You didn't know who your co-star would be. You only knew they were looking for someone to play that role.
Atom: Then I met P'Faye. On the very first day, I was honestly in shock. I had told my mom before that if I ever got the chance, I really wanted to act with her.
Euro: Really?
Atom: Yes. If I were ever going to do a GL series, she was the only person I wanted to be paired with. She was the only name I ever mentioned to my family.
When I finally met her, I was so overwhelmed that I couldn't even look her in the eyes that day. I was just completely stunned.
Euro: How does it feel to be an actress? Does it feel like starting over?
Atom: It feels like proving myself.
People were used to seeing me sing and dance on stage.
Now that I'm a full-time actress, I think everyone wants to see this side of me.
Acting is my chance to prove that I can really do it.
Euro: You've acted before, so you had some experience. Did you still have to adjust?
Atom: I'd only appeared briefly in a series before.
It was my first experience on a real professional set, and I learned a lot that I still use today.
But I was just a kid back then.
I only appeared for a few episodes before handing the story over to the main cast.
Now that I'm at Fabel and acting full-time, everything is much more serious.
It's harder.
But I have amazing seniors, especially P'Faye and the entire Fabel team, helping and guiding me.
Working with them makes everything flow naturally.
Euro: Did you study acting?
Atom: Yes.
Before filming started, P'Faye and I took acting classes together.
Euro: So the workshops also helped you become closer?
Atom: Exactly.
It helped make our performances more natural and beautiful.
Euro: What was the hardest part of playing Lalin/Lyla in Broken of Love?
Atom: Everything! (laughs)
Just kidding.
I'm really proud of this project.
The moment I read Lalin and Lyla's script, I fell in love with the characters.
There were parts of them that reminded me of myself, so I wanted to portray them as well as I possibly could.
The hardest part was expressing the character clearly enough for viewers to understand.
Even though I felt connected to Lalin, her emotions rise and fall constantly, like a graph that never stops moving.
Every emotion had to be clear.
Euro: It worked out because you prepared so well.
And you also had one of the country's top actresses acting alongside you.
Tell us about your CEO and your acting partner.
Atom: What if she's secretly listening?
Euro: She has to approve this before it gets published anyway. (laughs)
Atom: (laughs)
To me, P'Faye has always been incredibly cool.
Although she prefers people to call her beautiful.
So... beautiful it is.
When we first met, I was so shy.
I didn't dare joke around or talk much because I was new, and she was my senior.
Honestly...
I was fangirling over her on the inside.
I didn't dare play around with her much.
But as we spent more time together, we became much closer.
Now I can joke around with her.
I really admire how she manages everything so well.
She's both a CEO and an actress, and she does both amazingly.
Euro: I'm really happy for you that you joined this company.
Atom: I'm so happy that I get to work with her.
It was a dream I never even dared to dream, but somehow it came true.
It's something I'll always treasure.
And thank you to her...
I still don't know what she saw in me.
Euro: How many series have you acted in together now?
Atom: Just one.
Euro: I've already acted with her in two.
Atom: Are you flexing on me?
Euro: Just teasing. 😄
