@RobSomerville1 Generally, assessing deficiencies with injectables, blouses or drenches is most efficient. Licks can be challenging as you are relying on intake and have to put other ingredients in to make it palatable. Plus you are usually paying for a lot of things you don’t need.

@RobSomerville1 We go off what we know is deficient in our soils (copper on the heavier peats), look out for signs in cattle, and also at times get the processors to keep livers to test for copper deficiency. Use injectables in young cattle, sometimes boluses in cows, and apply to pasture.

@RobSomerville1 Have you tested any cattle directly for deficiencies? Look at the system holistically to know what to target, including soil and pasture profiles (pasture for trace elements), animal observations and fluid/liver/bone testing. Best to address a deficiency directly as possible
