I'm Erin (she/her) and I'm a queer ecologist. I study fragmented ecosystems to understand how plants and pollinators are getting along. I love making art and learning about really old creatures and cultures. Happy #LGBTQSTEMDay !

We have a new paper out in @PNASNews! This 6-year study across remnant prairies in Minnesota investigates fire’s role in plant reproduction. Have you wondered how small & large plant populations respond to fire? Read our paper to find out! More info here: https://t.co/bRqFWp9xM8
But what if we DID publish diagnoses with beautiful rhythm and scansion... Short & George are giving me devilish side-project ideas involving my long-neglected Latin primers
Thanks so much, y'all! I never would have imagined just how much use I get out of my Echinacea Project T-shirt (or the enormous wealth of Echinacea Project-imparted wisdom!)
Congrats to GCA '23 #ConservationHorticulure Fellow Erin Eichenberger @egeichenberger at @NCStateAEC! She is investigating population vital rates & pollinators of the rare southeastern Echinacea laevigata to improve management recommendations.

After almost passing out fishing samples out of an oven and in the process of double-checking that my perfectly organized samples were still perfect, I de-organized them by fumbling with my splinted hand (a repetitive stress injury from wrangling these samples the last two weeks)
My dear friends, Spirit and Opportunity! I was so excited for the launches when I was a kid. It's weird to think that I'm older than them, since I looked up to them so much (as much as a kid can admire machines.) Happy 20th, y'all!!
Twenty years ago tonight, Opportunity began its Mars journey, joining its twin Spirit, already en route a month earlier. The pair went on to find evidence of Mars' wetter past and paved the way for the type of overland exploration @NASAPersevere and @MarsCuriosity do to this day.
It's been ages since this plate went up for a vote! So long that I brought it up during my graduate school interviews with someone in my (prospective) lab who studied flytraps, and now they've defended their dissertation and I'm a candidate! Open the trap, free the plates!
Based on our web traffic this week, we are no longer covering civics and will only be covering the venus fly trap license plate. https://t.co/L7lCd3EBAY

If I could take a month off every year to do nothing but nap in a lawn chair the issue would be pretty much nullified, but unfortunately life doesn't tend to shake out that way 🌞
Each spring for the last few years has been an all-out war between my seasonally-affected need to soak up the sun's warmth, and my debilitating tree pollen allergies that manifest primarily as overwhelming fatigue. My physiology is large, contains multitudes, etc
