𝟯 𝗧𝗢𝗣 𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗬 𝗧𝗘𝗟𝗟 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗦𝗔𝗟𝗩𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

Teachers of OSAS, Hyper Grace, Free Grace, Eternal Security and allied are used to spreading blatant lies and falsehoods about the doctrine of conditional salvation intended to make it appear mean and ungracious in comparison to their false teaching.

Here are 3 such lies to watch out for and reject.

𝟭. 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

This is a lie. We believe in eternal salvation. We just do not believe that a person gets saved the very moment they believe such that even if they become vile and abominable, they cannot be lost but will be saved when Christ returns to meet them in that state or if they die in the state.

We believe, as the Scriptures say, that Christ became the author of eternal salvation to those who OBEY him.

Those who obey Christ are those who keep His commandments. They are those He would fulfil eternal salvation to when He returns.

Until then, those who hope to inherit eternal salvation must remain obedient to Him or else be disqualified for it when He comes.

𝟮. 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗱.

This is another lie. We do not teach that a believer has to be perfect in order to be saved. We teach that a believer must be faithful to the end in order be ultimately saved. This is what Jesus and his Apostles taught.

The parable of the Faithful and Wise Servant is therefore so called. It is not called the parable of the Perfect and Flawless Servant.

To be faithful means to be loyal and unwavering in commitment. Faithful people falter. They do not necessarily get everything right. But they have an unquestionable commitment to doing the right thing. They don't give excuses for their failures. They stick to what they have mastered. They keep attempting to master what they have not.

𝟯. 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Yet more lies. We believe in and have assurance of salvation. We just do not believe in unconditional assurance of salvation or an assurance of salvation that implicitly includes the clause: NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO.

An assurance is simply a commitment to do something within a certain framework. It is intended to inspire the recipient to do something or be somehow. It is not a commitment to do it NO MATTER WHAT the recipient does.

When God instructed Abraham to leave his country and his father's house to go to a land that He would show him, and promised to bless him and make his name great, that was an assurance. It was not less than an assurance because it was conditioned on him leaving his country and father's house.

In Christ, God has given us His assurance that if we continue with Him to the end, remaining immovable, He would bequeath salvation to us. It is for this reason that we do all we do to be pleasing to Him. We are acting based on His assurance because we know He cannot lie.

GENERALIZED CONSIDERATIONS – with a cry.

The public perception of Christianity, even four decades ago, was beautifully different from what it is today. Jesus had more honour on our streets then than He does now. It meant something to non-Christians to hear that someone was a Christian in those days, because Christians, based on whatever the church was teaching at the time – were better representatives of Jesus in and to the world than we are today.

In those days, people could safely assume that if Laoye was a Christian, your teenage daughter would be safe around him, your money would be safe in his custody, and he would not sell you a fake product. Such assumptions, even about believers, are unsafe these days, generally speaking. (I know there are brilliant exceptions here and there, but they are the exceptions now, not the norm.) This is why I believe we should humbly admit that whatever we are teaching today is not altogether as spiritually transformative as it ought to be, in the overall divine scale of things.

Yet it was our Lord who said:
“…let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
No candle was meant to be lit only to be placed under a cover. Salt should not continue to claim to be salt when it has lost its edge, its savour. Christianity, by design, is meant to be definitive and consequential, not banal and conformist.

Jesus, please, we need a revival!

Make I use una illogic sef. So, tell me, why una de vex say we de call Christians to purity, Christians o? If grace plenty for your side, why you no wan show receipts? Holy living na one sure proof of grace (Titus 2:11,12), but, once we say make you no de practice sin, especially sexual immorality, and especially if you wan be pulpit minister, una go de vex.

If no be fake grace wey una de advertise, why una no like make we shout about holiness sef? Grace wey de allergic to righteous living na the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be dat?

😭💔 I dropped my daughter at school that morning and went to work, never knowing that very day was my last day of seeing my beautiful daughter.

A few hours later, I received the most painful news a mother could ever hear — band!ts had attacked the school and kidnapped everyone, including my little girl and her teachers. Since then, my daughter has been in the forest, and I don't know if she is safe or even alive. 😭
